i would agree with the humidity needing to be a little higher and i don't feel they are real hardy. right now i have 7 jackson's 3 males/4 females. i would agree they don't need as much dusting but will develop MBD without any major signs and then it is too late. i have a new dust schedule...

as far as the cage thing you need to make a choice and work it, i live in new york so we also are cold and dry but i still go with the screen cage and improvise. i hang heavy clear plastic on the sides and back to help with humidity. the problem with the aquarium is where is all that...
their tongue would not work since it is a wet surface. my cham's get slugs from time to time and they can't shoot them so they have gotten used to just biting them off a branch.

from the info i have read the humidity should be higher, low humidity leads to upper respitory infection, it dries out their lungs, i try to keep mine at a minimum of 50%, and usually 65%. it is not an easy task!! constant misting but watching for inbetween dry outs, i run a room evaporative...
they probably weren't dead, before they pupate they lay like they are dead but you will see a big vein run down their back. i forget how long it takes but sometimes it takes a few days before they go from green to the brown aliens.

you mention uva lighting, what about uvb? zoo med 5.0 or 10.0, with out uvb (or D3) you can give them all the supplements but they will not absorb them, it sounds like MBD with the larthogic balance issue, take him to the vet for tests, if you wait much longer he might be to far gone

i also would love to be involved with the chat, after visiting the vet yesterday i have been put right back in my place, i thought i have been doing things well and i had a decent system down but my female jackson has calcuim deficiency (or at least that what the x-ray looks like, i am still...
hey, is this your first chameleon? that's great he got thru his cold delivery, some people don't seem to think things thru. he looks like a growing juvenile ready to go into a shed. great cage size for him. i wish him the best. i love mellers, never had one but maybe one day....
lets see a...
all my males have setups that when i am home i open there cages and hook a vine up and it leads to either a hanging plant, freestanding tree, etc.. they seem to make it their territory and it becomes the other half of their cage. i think they are looking for mates and just exploring. the...
the wax moths are basically the size of wax worms with wings, most of my chameleons' love them, as far as breeding just leave wax worms, alittle food and some wax paper rolled up (i use substrate like reptile litter) in a tank that they can not get out of. they will turn to moths breed and lay...
that was me with the chameleon ezine shirt on, hello, i did a few rounds, bought a 3 month old baby from Screameleons, few supplies and headed home. i'm trying to take a few decent pictures of my crew for the 'too many sick chameleons' thread. how do you guys take such close ups? i just...
Eric
can i ask a question, looking at your male veiled picture following his dorsal scales up his back there seems to be a niche or loss of those dorsal scales, kindof like a cut. my male who is about 1 year plus seems to have lost a few of his dorsal scales and indentation in the same...
it is definetley not the larva i know what the larva looks like, this looks like grain mites but i wouldn't think grain mites would want to be in the fruit fly media
well here is the best picture i could give ya, all those white dots (they even look like water droplets) large and small are...
is anyone dealing with these fruit fly cultures? due to a few babies i've bought quite a few to keep up a amount of flies but a few of the cultures seemed to have gotten contaminated or arrived contaminated, they have tiny white things running around in them, i'm not talking about the fly worms...
bird mites, like the ones on pigeons? in their feathers? i used to race homing pigeons when i was young?
is there anything that kills the mites? another bug, lady bugs?
i recently noticed mites in my roach colony, i cleaned them and got rid of any moisture and thought i had it under control but i don't. i just realized they are in my mealworms, superworms, roaches, i'm not sure about the crickets.
has anyone had these tiny white spots? are they grain mites...
jasmines
i've been using the jasmine trees (which is different from the jasmine plant) for 2 years now. when trimmed there is no milky white sap, and in my 2-4 foot trees there is no fruit. the only tree i get the berries on is my 6 foot tall 6 year old tree. the berries are like a hard nut...
