    Need advice!

Hi there, I am very sorry to hear that your little one has passed away. It is very admirable that you are trying to figure out what went wrong before you decide to get a new one. Chameleons are pretty much the hardest to take care of, when it comes to reptiles, and sometimes things can go...

1.2 year old veild eyes shut

Hi there, very sorry to hear your fellow is not doing so well. From what I immediately can see: lighting: it seems like you only have one light-bulb? can't see what kind it is from the photo? does it provide UVB? The pic of the sticker gives info about the light dome fixture, not about...

    baking branches/sticks

I baked mine at about 250F for 2-3 hours, but I already had mold growth on them and I have been soaking mine for 24 h beforehand. Also those were pretty big and fat pieces, so I was paranoid about risking with higher temps :D anyway, it worked fine for me, gonna put them back in the terrarium...

    Panther Chameleon Lighting

Hey there, I am by no means an expert on lighting and I hope someone with more expertise will update this, but this much I can tell you: 2.0, 5.0, 10.0, etc. indicate the percentage of UVB light that the bulb emits. So for instance for a 5.0 bulb - 5% of it's emitted light is going to be...

    Need cham help!

I would suggest 3-4 misting sessions of 2-3 min, 30 sec might be too short to trigger the drinking reflex, it takes about a minute usually, and not all chams will react to dripper from my experience.

    This is new

What an amazing video! Thanks for sharing this, very interesting :) I seem to remember I read about them being able to swim in case of e.g. falling into the water by accident, but I had no idea they can do it by their own choosing so to speak :)

    Chameleon x-rays (radiographs)

Sorry to hear Oliver is not doing well, but it looks like you caught it early, an at least now you know it and can provide him with care and conditions most suited for his situation. Also, thank you so much for sharing this! Really interesting information. After all, one never knows...

Pixel the Panther Chameleon is Sick :(

Hey there! Happy to hear about Pixel's improvements and very cool of you to post regular updates on his health. I come back to check on this thread every day :) Yes, it is crucial that misting sessions are long enough. From what I've read and experienced, chameleon's drinking reflex is...

    Poseidon's New Skin:)

Beautiful pics of a beautiful cham! :) though I am not a specialist, but he does look more Ambanja to me than Nosy Be ;) and he is veeery good looking, I kinda envy you I must say, a blue cham is on my closest to-get list, but that's not until I get a job :) Cheers, Julija

New Yemen Chameleon Goes dark on contact/handling

Well, that sound great! congratulations on your little victory :) after all, step by step - that's how it goes ;) I use a small shallow cup that fits in my hand, just put a worm in it and offer it to your cham, kind of and intermediate step before hand-feeding :) Good luck! Julija

Pixel the Panther Chameleon is Sick :(

In regards to hydration and drinking - you could try taking a pipette or a syringe (without a needle, of course) and slowly dripping some water on the tip of his nose - for some chameleons it helps triggering the drinking reflex, and in this way you can actually make sure that he is drinking...

    Baboo acts so hungry

You should definitely feed more and preferably offer a variety of at least 2-3 feeders, not only crickets. Until about a year of age you should pretty much feed him as much as he will eat, because he needs energy and nutrients for growing! The issue of over-feeding becomes important once he...

Curious: obviously you love chams but what other vocation do you have?

I have a biotechnological education, areas of interest/expertise include bacterial physiology, recombinant protein production, cancer research, epigenetics, pharmaceutical quality control and assurance. Unfortunately, I am currently out of job and desperately looking for one, because I need more...

New Yemen Chameleon Goes dark on contact/handling

Hi and welcome :) What you describe are indeed signs of getting stressed and angry, but it does not mean that this is how it is always going to be, especially if you approach this matter with care an patience. First of all, give her more time to settle in - at least a couple of weeks with...

    Veiled struggling to poop

Hey there, my veiled is about the same age and I have encountered a similar problem recently. He used to drink from a bottle, but after we moved to a new apartment and he moved to a new terrarium he stopped doing that. I tried with warm showers to begin with and at first it helped, but then...

Hey everyone! I am new and have a couple questions!

Hey there and welcome! :) It is a lovely cham you got yourself, very nice blues ;) It seems like you've got most of your questions covered by now, but I would like to add a bit about taming and handling. There is a wonderful blog post by one of the forum members, check it out...

    Eeeeeek!!!!

Heh, that was about exactly how I felt when I rared first my own baby crickets and later baby roaches :) can't even explain it myself, why I was so happy :D I know most people find roaches quite disgusting, but I think they are toootally cute, especially the little ones. They are like tiny tanks...

    Normal????

It is completely normal :) especially hibiscus flowers seem to particularly attract some of them. Veileds have been known to enjoy quite a variety of leafy greens and fruit as well :) My veiled loves to munch a piece of mango, strawberry or an occasional blueberry. Others prefer kale or lettuce...
