I’ll keep trying different ones every so often. I did put a smaller box in with a larger opening and a flannel in the bottom and she used that a couple times but still seems to prefer the hammock all day and night if she’s not basking or eating.
Curious if anyone with a female has experimented with a bio active lay bin? I don’t want to do the entire enclosure bioactive but wondered if doing so with a lay bin would keep the sand soil mix healthy. I thought of it yesterday because it’s where my cham poops. Apparently it’s a giant...
😂
I do have a lay bin. Thank you for the info sheet. I’ll double check to see that what I have is appropriate. She does not appear to have eggs and is not plump but I feel like I’ve seen enough stories where people are surprised by eggs that it’s good to be prepared.
She is probably just...
I wasn’t planning to take her to the vet for that, I was saying that there is no need for me to handle her except for taking her to the vet but even then I could use a twig instead of my hand. I was trying to explain that I am aware handling is not necessary but was still curious what what...
Last week while I was feeding my chameleon she licked one of my fingers, then lunged and bit it. She’s licked my hand before but never lunged at me or shown what looked like a bite attempt. She was not puffed up or open mouthed or hissing. She did start to shed a few days later so I wasn’t...
Mine is sassy and doesn’t mind coming out for hand feeding but that’s it. I could tempt her into a carrier with a worm of some sort if needed. What types of things have popped up for you with the vet visits?
Do any of your take your chams to the vet for a well check or only when there is an issue? I was thinking just if there were concerns because travel seems so stressful to them.
I should also add, I know it’s not ideal to gave them on the floor, but she is in a very low traffic room and we plan to get a stand with her new enclosure. We are saving for a Zen Habitat. She was re-home and was supposed to come with “everything” but came without any lighting, her tank was...
Thank you. This is helpful. Mine likes to sleep in her hammock. I do have an under rock space but she only passes through it and it’s not quite long enough to truly hide in. I tried a box and a more formal hide but she’s uninterested in either. She likes to be out it seems. I am trying her...
Would you be willing to share pics of what you keep them in and your method? I just purchased my first silkworm eggs and will hopefully have minis in a week.
The sticky side of Velcro sticks in the mesh well. Holes are probably not an issue unless you want to feed flies and moths anyway. Replacement screen tops are also not too pricey given the cost of the whole setup.
Leopard Geckos tolerate handling but generally don’t ‘enjoy’ it much like chameleons, at least in my experience. For the sake of being able to take them out to clean the enclosure though I have found that hand feeding or tong feeding gets them used to you. Then get them used to your hand...
