Mine does the exact same thing. I have a four month old veiled and she tries to hide behind a branch when I walk in. She is also in her sleeping spot about 2 hours early just getting comfortable for her night of sleep.

What is your cage size? If it is below 4 feet I would go with the carpet. But do your research before because I almost got a carpet myself and they are very different from most other chams. Goodluck!

I just got my first juvie veiled. It is like having a kid, but it is 100% worth it. I got so scared today when I couldn't find Stella in her cage but she was hiding in the plant. :) Goodluck and do all the proper research beforehand.
