It's a little late for my opinion now haha but I recommend once he's awake. Waking a chameleon up from their sleep can get kinda nasty, at least mine will be pretty upset.

I went to a friends house and asked my dad if he would shut all my chams lights when it's time for their sleepy time. He does this for me often but he forgot last night and I got home at about 12:00 PM. Their lights were on so I hurried into the room to turn them off. My female Luna was gaping...

It's always hard losing a cham, I lost my first chameleon and I couldn't get over it for almost a week. All with definitely go well for you :).

I usually feed mine as a treat in between meals. I give about 6-7 crickets and then a mealworm or two afterwards.
