Held him quite a few times today with moving him into a smaller flex. He's so well behaved! Not once has he puffed up, hissed or tried to bite me. He's stayed the same shade of green throughout as well.
I don't know if it's possible but I think he was scared in the 100 gal flex, he didn't seem...
Does the tube have to be on the top? Can it be vertical up one side?
I've swapped my new Chameleons housing for a smaller flexarium and now the Reptisun tube is far too long but I wasn't able to source a smaller one today. In the meantime I've stood it up on end against one side. Will that be...
Chameleon: 5 month old Male Yemen
His basking area is 85F but he keeps climbing up the side of the enclosure and then hangs upside down directly under the basking light which is about 1" from the top of the enclosure. It must be too hot for him as he was just doing it with his mouth open.
What...
Went out to buy a 2 month old today but when I saw how small they were I reconsidered and bought this 5 month old male instead.
Pictures aren't great, had to enhance the brightness. I'll take some more when he's settled in.
We're collecting a 2 month old Yemen on Monday and I'd like some advice on dusting.
I currently have to hand:
100% natural Calcium Carbonate
Euro Rep Repton Dusting Supplement
Nutrobal (calcium balancer & multivitamin)
The first 2 I've used with my frog for well over a year now. The...
Cleaned out and totally re-done the flexarium ready for the young Yemen that we're buying on Monday.
The basking area has got a lot of inter-crossing vines. Hard to see but some go from front to back and some side to side. Will be adding a few more vines once we have them. We have a Pothos but...
As you'll know if you followed my recent posts, our 20 month old Yemen that we'd only had for a little over a week passed away at the start of this week.
I'm hoping to be able to acquire another Yemen next week/week after, this time it will be a young one.
I understand that up to 3 months...
Our Yemen has just dangled from a vine by his back legs and swung from side to side hissing. There's no other animals in his line of sight and no-one disturbed him
Any ideas as to what he's up to?
My Yemen seems to only want to be hand fed. He's had 3 locusts in with him since Saturday and hadn't shown any interest. Yesterday I offered him a mealworm out of my hand which he took, in the end he had 10. Today I thought I'd try the same with the locusts, picked one out of his enclosure, put...
Obviously I spot clean any excrement I see but what else should I be doing? After I take the excrement out should I be cleaning the area I removed it from with anything? Someone told me that I should be cleaning the leaves on all the plants weekly, is this true and if so what's the best method...
I was outside cleaning the rabbits out when my other half started banging on the window for me to come in. Rushed in to find her in tears telling me she thinks our Yemen is dying (we only bought him on Saturday) as his leg has gone white! So I rush up stairs to look and to my relief find he's...
I've got a zoo med big dripper at the moment that drips between 1 and 3 drips a second depending on how much water is in it, this drips onto a large leaf. The problem I have is that I have to keep removing the water from the bottom of the enclosure, it doesn't splash in one place so I can't...
How often would you expect a Yemen to bask? When we went to collect him yesterday from his previous owner he went under the basking light a couple of times whilst we were chatting. The room wasn't.
He spent about 1hr 30mins in the car yesterday in a poly box with the car heaters on and basked...
We picked this lovely boy up today, in a way it was a real shame as his owner didn't want to see him go but space and children dictated he had to sell.
He's not been in his new house long and wasn't feeling very photogenic but I did manage to get one semi decent picture. So far he has...
The vines have yet to go in as we haven't got them yet but my question is whether there's too much foliage in there or not? The plant in the middle is Monstera but it may not be staying, I'm not sure yet.
Enclosure is 48" tall x 30" x 16.5". The space top left is where the basking area will...
