I am on my third clutch of sandfire bearded dragon eggs this year with a 45 dollar hovabator type incubator i picked up at a farm supply store (no fan). Works quite nicely and holds a pretty steady temperature.
Since I plan on expanding my breeding projects to encompass more of my herps I...
yup. Its my first try! :D
As long as i can still find mulberry leaves it seems to be a good investment! I should be set through fall. Chow is WAY too expensive to keep THIS up without them!!
Found where mulberry farms gets their powdered mulberry leaves from though after much research. I...
WHOA... After I posted that i went to check on the worms and cocoons and i have a moth! ONE! lol
..smaller then i thought they would be. I guess most of the pictures i've seen are close ups. heh.
I had 2000 new eggs hatch in the incubator yesterday and got their first meal this morning. Good...
they generally dont move more then a few inches if that.
Did you put silkworms on your mulberry plant? If they were wild I dont think they were silkworms they have been extinct in the wild for a looong time.
hahaha! Good story... i can definitely sympathize :D ! I love my Jackson's so much and take care of every need but how does he repay me? Gaping mouth and biting attempts when escape is futile!
I let my silks roam until they got so big they hung on the branch and my jackson's was dragged to them by his tounge! Im now altering that roaming a bit.
most inside and some outside
Is it any sort of problem if they are outside?
Another question, is it ok to remove them and transfer to another container? I have over 35 now and counting. They look so much like eggs Im hesitant to alter their orientation. LOL.
We started our colony with a mixed group of 50 about a year ago. My wife thinks there were a couple of adults but I am not so sure. We are keeping the colony between 700 to a thousand roaches continuously now, it reached that size very quickly once breeding started. It took a month or so before...
kati, thats one thing, I dont KNOW when they are ready to cocoon so i seperated the ones i wanted to cocoon into that container. I know they can get three inches or so right? they are not quite that big but almost.
lady, they were started out on chow and for the last three weeks or so have...
Hi, I raised a bunch of silkies from eggs and have a couple of dozen I am setting aside to try and cocoon and breed the moths.
Here is the setup I have so far and a picture of the size of the silkworm.
Im kind of winging it here mostly but other then the cocooning box they will be kept...
Ive grown my first batch of a couple thousand silkworms to nearly 3 inches. The last time i gave one to my jackson's his tongue stuck to it but it didnt budge. He was literally dragged to the silkworm by his tongue and had to pick it off the branch with his mouth. I didnt realize they could grab...
