A/C + swamp cooler

So I'm working on setting up my Chameleon room Now the ac will cool this but since ac takes humidity out of the air I was thinking about using a portable swamp cooler to boost the humidity, spot cool my jacksons and...

    Pet Therapy

sounds like a great ideal. do remember to remind anyone handling the chameleon (or befor you shake hands/eat ect) to wash thier hands. as I'm sure you know any reptile can cary salmonella salmonella normally wouldn't do much more than making a healthy adult sick, but it can be really bad on...

    new baby not eating

it's true spinach is high in oxalates (which bind to calcium) so if you use it only use small amounts from time to time, kale also has a moderate amount of oxalates so I wouldn't make that the MAIN gut load green. from my understanding greens (mustard, collard and turnip) are best for the...

    I know nothing of chameleons!

not sure about the calcium spray, everyone I've heard of uses powder. rep-cal is the one used most by forum members, though I've used (and heard of others on here using) Miner-all. with the calcuim with D3 some brands have more and some have less, thats why I just stick with rep-cal (as it's...

    vitamin A deficiency symptoms

I haven't delt with this myself but from what I've heard one of the main issue is with eyes. missing prey items a lot might be a sign of eye issues. to be on the safe side I've started rotating between herptivite (doesn't have vitamin A) and reptivite (does have vitamin A)

    Wanna get a Chameleon

do tons of reading befor you buy! if you like jacksons then research them. I just recently got a jacksons myself, I think they're really cool (who doesn't love a lizard with horns?) some things about jacksons, they like it a bit cooler and wetter (humid) than say veileds or panthers, they...

    I know nothing of chameleons!

like others have said pet store advice probably isn't the greatest, if the chameleon is healthy (no eye issues) you do NOT need to be giving him eye drops, if your chameleon has eye issues you need to see a vet. that schedule sounds kind of confusing to me, here's what I do for my panther...

    how do

Most recommend not feeding meal worms because of their hard body, and relative lack of good nutritional value, if you can find small super worms they would be better, just make sure to gut load them as you would crickets. Wax worms should be as a treat only due to their fat content. Some...

    beginner ?

I got my panther at 2 & 1/2 months (tho he looked about as big as most 3 month olds I've seen). I really enjoyed watching him change the first few months (still do but the changes are slower and less drastic) I'd say if he's eating crickets slightly larger than pin head you'd be good to go...

    traveling cham room

Thanks for the support and comments all! Yeah I stop nightly and for breaks when traveling, and the rv should make it easier (as opposed to hauling multiple chameleons into a hotel for the night) Haha, I had my guys out for some sun last weekend (finally had some "warm" weather) and a...

    traveling cham room

When I'm traveling they will be in the pickup with me, so far I've only traveled with my panther (as I just bought the jacksons). Most jobs are 3 + months so it's only a few times a year. I'll see how it works with the new guy, if he does well I may get a female jacksons ( for future...

    traveling cham room

I work about 90% of the year out of state, so far I've just been renting but I've decided to star pulling a rv. Here's my future cham room, it's a 7' x 7 1/2 ' room. I've just started working on it, I've removed the bed and put a shower base (which will drain out a utility door va pvc and flex...

new panther baby cham is all white

my panther when he was about 2-3 months would be white with black stripes when "cruising" around his cage, then darker when basking and almost pure white while sleeping. Your temps might have been slightly high, but I wouldn't worry about the "urban camo" color, now if he's really pale or...

    I know nothing of chameleons!

there are a few ways I've dealt with water drainage/clean up. you can use a dish/cup to catch water from your dripper but if you do make sure to cover it with somethings on the off chance your chameleon falls/climbs in it and can't get out. (they aren't really great swimmers so if he/she...

    male separation

like texas panther man said I'd invest in a 2nd (or more) nozzle(s). I'm not sure what kind of mister you have but with some parts from lowes I was able to rig up some micro garden sprayers to my mistking. It's temporary till I get real nozzles, but it works.

is it ok if the cage is in a dark room

I don't think it's a big deal so long as the cage is well lit, if the cage is to dark just add a 6500k (I think it's call ) florescent bulb (in addition to your uvb and heat lamp). It's good for your plants to !
