I have minimal experience, having only had my rescued ball python a year, but are boas similar in terms of liking hides? Ball pythons are ridiculously timid, to the point that they will literally kill themselves by staying in a totally inappropriate hide (ie. too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry)...

Heard some big bugs battering the screen windows last night but they disappeared by the time I vaulted the sofa with a flashlight. I trawled the front yard a few times, but saw nothing. I thought it was time!

Interesting idea. Do you just use these for the egg-laying? Is that what you mean by using them for breeding? What are the options for light fittings and drippers/misters? How do you access the main area of the enclosure and the lower portion? Is there integrated drainage or a substrate...
