Praying mantids just don't seem efficient to me because you have to feed all the babies throughout their life other feeders. Any other sticks that would be good feeders?
What kinds of phasmids are good feeder options?
Obviously the Indian stick insect, but what about other ones such as leaf insects Phyllium, or giant spiny stick insects? They seem to be the most prolific feeders, so why don't more people use them? Aside from being illegal in Canada and the...
Yup. They love them. Just be careful with the butterflies, they need to be from a safe place. Butterflies are not as persistent to pesticides like crix and grasshoppers are. Grasshoppers will bioaccumulate pesticides but most butterflies will just die. I don't use wild grasshoppers anymore after...
For some reason my panthers don't like Dubias all that much either, but my veiled loves them. He is anyway - a veiled! Some chams don't like them as much as others.
Stop feeding spike the ones with dog food in their guts. They need to pass all that protein first. Try using oranges, bananas...
I have found about 10 dwarf cave roaches in with my dubias, as well as lots of crickets that seem to get in there. I also have a fruit fly problem, they reproduce like crazy with fruit + warmth + humidity. The insides of my bin is covered with pupae. I am going to clean it out today, does anyone...
At first I wanted to cup feed roaches so I knew all of them got eaten, but to no avail. Neither of my juvi panthers will take anything out of a dish/cup. I am now free ranging them and they love em. Pip squeak loves the freshly molted ones the best. I am still trying to get the to eat butters...
I have had only 10 red legged grasshoppers so far. Incubation was about two months, last month on heat. They are in their third instar and doing well on lettuce and wheat germ.
As far as I know panthers can not be sexed 100% by colour. By their 2nd month the males will be a larger range of colours, like greens, browns, grays, some blues (Nosy Be) females tend to be a light brown almost all the time. Hemipenal bulge and colour is the most accurate.
I have only recently learned how to sex baby panthers but I have a 3 month old pair so maybe I can help. From the first pic of the female my guess would be male, but from the second pic you can clearly see that she is a she. The second cham is a male.
