Can a Panther Be Sexed By Color Not Bulge?

I've searched and searched the forums reading all that I can about sexing, and it seems looking for the bulge is the standard process for determining male from female. Judging from some of the pictures I've looked at on here, I still sometimes can't tell. I did read some also involve color into sexing. Can panthers be sexed purely by color? For example, I've seen very dark colored babies and much lighter colored babies. Is there a difference in gender from the dark almost black baby panthers from the lighter ones?

As far as I know panthers can not be sexed 100% by colour. By their 2nd month the males will be a larger range of colours, like greens, browns, grays, some blues (Nosy Be) females tend to be a light brown almost all the time. Hemipenal bulge and colour is the most accurate.

You can be fooled by colour at a young age , as some females will throw greens. Look for the body colour to also show in the turrets. Thats also not 100%.

Thanks for the response. :) What about females and the "U bar" coloring? I've heard people talk about this, but I have no idea what it is?
