Went into pets discount on ward to buy crix yesterday morning. Two dead jacksons just laying on the bottom. Maybe a 60gal reptarium filled with like 20+. :( :(
I would love to open a small reptile only store specializing in jacksons care and setups. Just have like 10 setups going with maybe 2-3...
You have to take one of the trails to get into the bamboo forest. Not sure what the name is, but on the drive up you will see one just before the bamboo. You may have to hike in 3-4 miles though and make sure its not pig hunting season. Sometimes the hunters mark the trails with colored tape...
Think like 3 parts on the road you see it. If you dont spot any, a net can be handy. Seen guys come out with plenty of em using nets. But guess if its just 1 or 2 no need.
Yeah, you could just stop. But the marked trails may be better. Are you spotting or netting? If you are netting I would recommend hiking a trail like 1-2 miles in. Get on a hillside where you can access the 30-40' spots and gently use the net to rummage up some movement. A 20' extension is...
When you go Tantalus you really have to take one of those trail heads to find them. The bamboo forest's have choke.
Other good spots are out in Waimanalo.
This will sound bad, but, both of my 24" fluorescent bulbs get misted a little bit here and there. Nothing has happened. Maybe they don't get hot enough...?
Yeah there is plenty shade, the umbrella tree is huge and takes up most the enclosure. The native Jacksons here thrive in the same weather though. Is that the only reason he would be spending time at the bottom? I never see him gaping or anything and he is at the bottom in the mornings when its...

Eh I hated that thing! The reservoir is way too small for adequate misting. The misting, as mentioned, isnt mist its spray. The tubing gets algae growth in it after time, especially if it runs in the enclosure and under the uvb lamp. It's loud, and I believe the sound of that thing may train...
Yeah the light/temperature gradient is a good thing. Putting it on top is probably better. I have a 260gal rep as well with 5 lights on top. 2 10w clip lamps, 1 30w basking lamp, 1 24" 10.0 UVB, 1 24" florescent grow light.
But I have a crapload of live plants in there, so I need the extra...
I used to let my iguana just live on a folding table with rock, lamp, bowl, and tub of water. He had free range of the whole house. But I would always find random surprises now and then and he would try to sleep in my bed under the pillows.
I use the gutload from cricketfood as well, just started. My first batch of crix i lost about 15 out of 40 and im not sure why. Im thinking maybe I had too much of the food mix on the bottom and perhaps they were getting trampled or suffocating. Not sure yet. The 5LB bag will probably last 3-4...
About 3 months ago I lost my first jackson's while letting him bask outdoors in a large umbrella tree. He ran off. Well just yesterday we were up in the huge mango tree picking mangos and out of no where he fell out of the tree! Like a 15' drop...but he survived with no apparent injures that I...
Every morning i remove any visible leaves, droppings, and use the pump sprayer on a stream setting to really soak down everything and spray off any urates that have gathered on the leaves. Once a week I check the plant pots for droppings that I missed, and check the hard to reach places for...
Make sure you have it hooked up correctly. Should have 1 piece of the tubing connected to the first intake of the pump and to your reservoir. The second cut of tubing connects to the other side of the pump. Then use the L or T fitting at the end of that second piece. If your nozzles already have...
Doesnt it have something to do with venting heat? My jacksons does it all the time and it normal/optimal temperatures. I read that its totally normal, but can also be an indicator that its too hot. If your basking area temps are in range, then its probably not a problem. But if its like 90+ then...
