Thanks for the information. It took me a month and a half of research before I built my first functional enclosure. I want to make more enclosures and am always finding new easier ways on building them.
Welcome to the forums my friend. I too was a new member almost a year ago. You will truly enjoy the information that gets passed on this cite. I am a bit jealous and wish was retired and could spend my days with my chameleons. 5 more LONG years to go and I will be there. I have both jacksons and...
I have never been to an Expo before but found out that there is going to be an Alexanders Herp World Expo a few hours away from my house coming up here in march. I have a few questions:
1. Is it worth driving three hours to attend
2. Are there usually a vast amount of Chameleons
3. Are the...
I will be in Key West Florida for a couple of weeks next month and want to go search and take pictures of wild chameleons. Any ideas of areas to look? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Agree hands down with everyone. I had one when I was still getting smart with my chameleons. I listened to the pet shop (worst idea EVER). I would clean it once a week but one week I did it there were two rotting crickets in there. Before I cleaned it I already purchased the mist kind. Will...
They do change colors when they bask. Both my male and female jacksons get REALLY dark when they are basking. Especially outside. A picture would be great to determine my friend. I am by far a professional but I do have knowledge on the Jacksons.
So about six months ago I finished up a beautiful cricket enclosure for my Jacksons. (posted pictures back then). After about a month or so my wife started saying "well if you can do that why don't you make a cricket enclosure to look that nice so I don't see plastic bins everywhere" (She lets...
Egg crates for the crickets to hide in my. The to transport from cricket enclosure to the lions den its paper towel tubes. Its cheap and easy. Hardest thing is to remind the wide to save them. I just keep them in the enclosure with the crickets so I don't have to wait for them to walk into the...
Plenty of green. My male likes to blend. Set up your enclosure that when you walk up to him he is higher than you. Even when I hold him he likes to climb onto my head. Give him lots of branches to walk around on as well. Mine likes to explore. I think he does security checks sometimes I swear...
I used a sauntering iron. It rips through the styrofoam like soft butter. And yeah that's just shower/tub liner. It's just their to direct the water coming from the pan to the bucket.
Are you running a basking lamp? If so how strong? How close is it? My jackson did the same thing then I moved the basking lamp up a little higher with a lamp hangar and it worked. Just a suggestion. I know both my jacksons go through feeding frenzys. She might even be about ready to shed.
It is not removable. I really like the Jackson Chameleons and I know they needed to be seperate unless breeding. I almost wish I would have now that you mention it but it works. I already have a waiting list for babies.
1. My daughter
2. My son
Looks like I will be building more cages in...
And Lastly I think. I am almost 6 ft tall. 5'11" to be exact so the picture with me in it is a size example. Might have been a little bigger than I had anticipated.
As promised here is the enclosure that took almost 3 months of research, planning, designing, and building. Here are just some of the pictures throughout the build. I am by far not a professional at this but if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I am just waiting on my UVB light and Heat...
