My house doesn't drop below 65 at night and I'm in England, during winters it may do though. In any case, a ceramic heater for winter nights would probably be the best bet, that's what I'll be using.
I think they're around or above the intelligence level of the average house hamster personally. I see my Chameleon do far more interesting things, always inquisitive and alert, not running around a wheel all day. They have some capacity to learn but I think being a more recent addition to the...
It's just called Quality Garden Essentials hand mister, picked it up at Barton Grange. It works great, was very inexpensive too. Gonna get a mistking eventually as I want to go on holiday next year, but yeah, the cost T_T
Nothing worse than losing a great companion. Sounds like she was a lovely dog. The terrier sounds hilarious though, crickets must be invading his/her dreams :P My little puppy Stanley chased a little locust that got out the other day and kept picking it up and putting it back down really gently...
Ollie's an odd one. He loves lying with people, when I was ill a few months ago he sat on my cushion behind my head and I got up quietly and took this photo.
Gotta love dogs.
Some updates while this thread is still quite high up.
I'd say he's totally used to the cage now. He knows where the dripper drips and likes to stay around the top of the cage. He's grown a bit and is due for a shed I would say. His food is bigger, as he simply wouldn't take smaller insects...
I use Locusts as my main staple because my Cham doesn't take crickets or Dubia's as much, plus having a feeder that stays around basking spots is ideal to me. I don't think they're detrimental to your chameleons health provided you supplement of course, I'd say there's nothing wrong with Locusts.
Sitting out in the sun with my Chameleon is one of my weekly highlights. Being somewhat of a "Take life slowly" person, I find watching the Chameleons behavior and personality in a more open environment enthralling. Great fun.
Real sun is the way to go really. Wish UK was a bit nicer but I...
My guy was big. While not the same size as the fully grown Panther at my reptile specialist, he was almost as big (I'd say 7-8"). He was less beefy though, I don't know if it was because I didn't supplement him enough though I recall doing everything well, but like in my above picture he had...
They're quite rare generally as well. I've got a few pet shops in the area that sell mostly Veileds, some Panthers, but my Senegal came from a pet shop that closed down.
Anyway, heres a photo of my old fellow Louis.
Chameleons have sensitive lungs almost like a birds. While they can fight infections and germs, due to Chameleons generally being stressy animals they tend to keep their immune system quite low. I'm not sure how it works but its along the lines of the animal lowers its immune system in times on...
