i have a 8 week old male veiled cham..he was poorly but hes better now... i used to be able to pick him out of the tank and place him on the plant ..he went a lovely colour... but recently he opens his mouth wide open and now hisses at me and goes to bite me when i put my hand in...

i never see mine drink tbh..i mist him everyday... but when he eats..after teh bug goes down..he juts chews for a min or so... i have a small syringe and i just drop in to his mouth when he opens his mouth... mayb eu cud try that..lol

i dont know much about chams...but form iv been told they are to eat supplemented food every day.. my cham nails thru around 6-7 crickets and locusts per day...all supplemented with calcuim and sumtimes even more...thats like around and over 21 bugs every 2 to 3 days and u say ur cham only...

every1s read it wrong.... is it possible that the crust around the nose could block the baby chams nose....making it open its mouth to breathe easier? as mine has this crust and has its mouth open most of the time atm.. just wondered if that was possible.. im not a cruel person u...

after a previos thread i just posted thort this question might a good one.. over supplementing can cause a white crust to appear in and around the nostrils..due to the cham trying to dispures unneeded salts and calcuim. NOW... is it possible for this to block the nose of a baby cham...

he recieves between 7 to 10 crickets a day all dusted..yeh they look like ghost :S wat are the reprecutions of over supplementing if any?? can it block the nose of a baby cham and force him to breath through his mouth???? i shall reduced the amount of calcium dust i am using.. thanks

jst a quick Q to ask about a white crust on a baby veiled chameleon's nostrel.. he has a confimed RI. and is on antibiotics... is this white crust around the nose all the crap coming out as a crust out from his nose?? or is this nothing to do with the RI?? and its just common on all chams...

how the hell do you get a baby chameleon to open his mouth..he just shuts it soon as i get close..when i hold him he jst wriggles free.lol frustrating as hell man seen him eat and he has gone a better green colour now tho... fingers crossed ay.. thank for all the info guys

well a visit to the vet after only 2 weeks of ownership :( turns out he has a RI :( i dont know whether its upper or lower..but still hes a poorly chap at the moment and im in two minds to whether he will actaully make it got prescribes baytril. to be applied orally for a week...

he definatly has a whistling sound when he opens his mouth....and he has some bubbles at the corner of his mouth... :( :( im guessing its a respitary problem then..have to consult the vet then.

i think a BIG clean out is nessacary..i have a drip which goes on the substrate..im gonna clean the whole enclosure and use carpet i think... the water doesnt dissapear...and yes i think mould has developed at the bottom... i am currently cleaning it now..
