    Hand feeding a Chameleon

My young panther gets really super defensive if I try to do ANYTHING with tongs in his cage. Even coaxing him to accept them with food is a no-go. He haaaaaates them. (but they make it so much easier to pick up shed skin from the leaves.) But, I usually just hand feed him if he's in an open-ish...

Silkworm Pod experiences? (And Feeder-keeping in an apartment.)

So, I went ahead and bought the pod in a "why not" moment. Not so sure I'd do it again, because while it's nice to have it all kind of compact for just a week or two's worth of worms it seems kinda.... messy... While I know that I'm supposed to remove the frass daily and keep everything...

Blood on vent of young panther

Thanks. Reading this put my mind at ease. The next day after my last post he ended up shedding, so I'm wondering if it was partially due to that. It was a clean shed outside of one tiny piece stuck to his vent. He seems to be back to his usual beautiful, moody self now. :D Though he's...

Blood on vent of young panther

This morning the dried blood was still present on his vent, but after his usual bathroom time it appeared to have fallen off. I managed to track down his dropping and it was much firmer than usual (though it seemed healthier than the soft light colored ones he'd been producing for the last...

Blood on vent of young panther

The problem is more getting him to the shower. I managed to get him in there, and he calmed down a bit once on the tree with the water going, but he stressed out at being moved from place to place. But, the deed is done and now I've tucked him back into the cage with a sheet over it so he can...

Blood on vent of young panther

I was considering trying to do the shower soaking, but he's so skittish that it's difficult. :/

    Other Reptile Species?

Besides our young panther chameleon, we have a Merauke Blue Tongue Skink accompanied by glorious visions of "future reptiles" that we plan to own once we move out of the apartment (still a good few years down the road). My husband is planning on a bearded dragon and a ball python. As for...

Silkworm Pod experiences? (And Feeder-keeping in an apartment.)

I may have to talk my husband into revisiting the roaches idea again, though as GTSLOW mentioned, even though the roaches can't live easily outside the colony-container, just the word ROACH would probably raise flags with any apartment staff. (We're probably already pushing it with...

Silkworm Pod experiences? (And Feeder-keeping in an apartment.)

So I'm looking to add some variety into Osiris' diet, but living in an apartment sort of keeps any "farming" to a minimum. We keep a weekly supply of crickets in a critter keeper which stays in our rarely-used extra bathtub (prevents escapees!) and that's about it. I'm looking for information...

Cheapest DIY method to lift plants/laying bin up?

I've been having the same problem. But I'm looking at sets of "pot feet" you can buy from stores such as home depot for about 7 dollars.

    Japanese Cherry Blossom

You're speaking of Sakura trees right? Same story. The blossoms themselves are generally harmless, but the rest of the plant can be dangerous.

    Japanese Cherry Blossom

Personally, I would avoid using cherry branches. The bark, twigs and leaves are toxic to many animals. So I highly doubt it would be worth the risk.

    Chameleon newbie

Hey everyone, Just decided to finally get involved with the community here and introduce myself since I've been lurking and soaking up all the information you guys have posted on here. (Seriously, this forum is a life saver. Made setting up his enclosure and familiarizing myself with chameleon...

    Do chameleons need insects?

If you want a good medium sized lizard that doesn't have to eat insects I suggest you look into tracking down a blue tongue skink. While supplementing their diets with bugs can make for an awesome treat, you can feed them proteins like high-quality canned dog food and boiled chicken. That with a...
