Earlier in the week I'd noticed Osiris having problems with his eyes. Lots of blinking and rubbing on vines, a bit of fluid in one that I cleared up with some saline solution. He'd also been swallowing a lot.
Being the paranoid 'parent' that I am, I took my VERY angry little lizard into the vet...
Finding chameleon friendly plants that are native to North America is kind of a difficult feat. Chameleons are (in majority) tropical, while most of N. America is.... not.
Chellia made some excellent suggestions (though make sure it's a dwarf umbrella tree! The big variety is toxic.)! I...
There is a definite "mine" and "yours" mindset with our reptiles. While we swap care duties all the time, you could say there's a bit of rivalry. My husband has his blue tongue skink which he shows off like a proud new daddy, then gets huffy when people say it looks like a snake and turn to...
You could try a spider plant. They start out as a grass-looking plant but quickly send out vines with tufts of leaves on them. It would add a different texture and they are on the safe plant list.
I just use a Dole gelatin cup with holes drilled in the bottom currently.
But I have a friend (who works with resins as a hobby) fiddling around with a design in an attempt to make something a little more visually appealing since I mentioned that I couldn't find anything that I wanted when I...
So, my brat decided to leave me a treat in his feeding cup. I was extremely alarmed at first, thinking some horrible creature was dwelling in my Cham's digestive tract. But then came to the realization that yesterday I had fed him some silkworm moths and that these eggs would most likely be...
I was having the same problem. What I did was purchase another plant and formed a tag-team. One out in the sun for a while, one in the cage until it starts dropping again. So far, so good.
Decided to make a photo thread for my little guy.
Today was "big-boy-cage-day". I lured him out of the partially disassembled old cage to his window-tree so I could work.
Silly critter decided he preferred the back of the chair instead, then spent the rest of the time trying to figure out the...
So, I was wondering if anyone has attempted this before, attaching part of a mistking system to a Big Dripper so one doesn't have to constantly refill it?
With the new cage on the table we're currently using, I'm going to have to get a step ladder or something since there's no way I'll be able...
Thanks! He is pretty when he's not being moody... which he certainly was after I had to move him back to his cage. Wish he was easier to handle... or that I could at least train him to go to bed where he's supposed to. Gave me all kinds of sass.
I lost track of time while keeping an eye on him and playing video games, noticed that he was being rather quiet since I usually track his leaf-crinkling noises for location. Found the pretty boy dreaming happily. :p
Age: 7 months
Haha, yeah. I just figure it's those raging hormones making him want to roam. I WISH he wanted to be held. He's decided even hand feeding is too much interaction with me recently. Just stopped out of the blue. :/ Such fickle creatures.
Osiris has been madly scraping at the side of his cage near the window for days now. Pacing the enclosure endlessly until dark and just being overall restless and grumpy.
While I'm plugging away on getting a bigger enclosure set up for him, I'm still waiting on some supplies to arrive and need...
I'd recognize mine solely because he would recognize me. The grump would throw on his black stripes and give me the ultimate stink-eye the moment I entered the room.
At least you're not at the same table as them. My husband does this. It's gross and embarrassing, but upon addressing it, he said he can't help it because of the temperature of the hot food making his nose run. Yuck. :\
That is indeed the schefflera arbicola. :) Just give it a good wash, change it to an organic soil with no fertilizer in it, and you should be good to go.
