I'd say it depends. If your lanai gets sunlight all throughout the day then I'd say no. But if your building faces away from the sun and only receives sunlight for 1 hour a day then you may want to add a light if your cham is going to be on his free range for a while.

Sounds normal to me, I have a panther that free ranges and when he feels like he's done he'll climb down off the free range and climb around on the floor and get into some mischief.
