aww but then you get to take pics of him all fired up! my girl is pretty shy i just manage to get lucky once in a while. plus with her bum eye its good to sneak a few extra shots in and she doesnt notice! :p
thanks guys!
im not 100% sure what caused it but it happened after a shed she had in the spring. ive flushed it out and was given gentamicin from my vet but she still doesnt see well out of it. it looks a tiny bit foggy on half her pupil on that eye, kinda like a cataract and its a bit sunken...
she fed her the same way i have been for a while. 5-6 crickets or 3-4 superworms every other day. somedays she would mix it up by giving 3 crickets and 2 superworms etc but never really gave more than 5 feeders a day when she fed her. once the weather gets cooler im going to buy her silkworms...
i havent posted photos of thalamus in a while. she has become quite the pretty lady. :)
i love when their skin is shedding around their pupils. it looks creepy
sleepy after a day of half shedding
enjoying her new mistking
this is her bad eye. shes not fully blind but she...
thanks you guys! she is eating well though but since i got back shes been a little more timid and less hesitant to run up as soon as i show her the feeding cup. maybe seeing a new face for a week has made her forget me! i have been feeding her a tiny bit less to see if that helps and lengthened...
Let me know if you think this sounds like a problem for my female veiled:
I recently went on a week long trip and my mom took very good care of Thalamus. I just got a mistking setup (love it!) but didnt have much time before I left to experiment with how many times/length of misting to ensure...
you potted scheffleras? thats strange, ive repotted 5 separate plants in organic soil and they havent died the next day. (but they all have died from overwatering the next week!) maybe you somehow destroyed some roots while doing so? scheffleras are such a pain! i had no idea they could get shocked
hmm thats interesting! ill have to feed her tomorrow when i take her outside to see if theres a difference. I have been cup feeding her crickets and worms. i try to feed her worms from my hand but she must think my fingers look more tasty! :o i never free range my feeders because i like knowing...
she does look at moving objects with that eye but she cant identify what they are such as food. (it comes in handy when i need to sneak my hand under her to pick her up!) when she sees the food item with her other eye she lines up and shoots for it with surprisingly good aim. even with the bad...
ive been having trouble with keeping the umbrella plants in my female veiled's cage and recently i had to take her plants out for a week while i tried to find time to buy and repot a pothos plant. after that stressful week i noticed she wasnt fully extending her tounge out when she ate. i have a...
ahhhh a few of my worms have grasserie. ive separated them but i hope its not too late for the rest of the worms. do you think the ones traveling around with no interest in food have it too? ill separate them too just incase.
Do you know of any changes in behavior a silkworm goes through thats a sign of it dying? I'm trying to prevent my whole colony from wiping out. I used to have such good luck for my first several months raising silkies but my past few colonies have all died within a few days and its getting...
ive been struggling to keep her temps at 81 so im using a 25 watt bulb since it gets hot in my room even with the AC on. i bought a plant light which i want to hook up soon but im afraid it will rise the temps up even more. the plants are definitely dying from too much water i think, the stalks...
thanks, these all sound like good ideas! im just a bit worried about the vermiculite since my chameleon is a recovering dirt eater (lol), but i have 1 inch of sand and river rocks covering that on the surface so fruit flies cant breed in the dirt so it shouldnt be too big of an issue.
I recently upgraded my veiled's cage to an 18x18x36 and had enough room to put two umbrella plants in it. a few stalks are already turning brown and drooping leaves. When I mist, theres really no way I can avoid the plant's pot and the leaves drip with water and get the soil too soaked. there is...
