Chameleons always struck me as "Look, don't touch" pets. So I really could careless if I had the sweetest cham in the world, or the nastiest. I wish I could afford a panther though.
Do you have a feed store nearby? I find chicken layer (I use a vegetarian brand) to be a great staple gutload for crickets/roaches. Use gamebird crumbles (unmedicated) if you can get them instead. I then supplement with a wide variety of greens/veggies/fruit. Pretty much all found at the grocery...
Hah, the beetles (Not the band Beatles :P) are just that, beetles. Superworms are a whole different species, and they turn into beetles too. (BIG beetles, lol)
Egg > Mealworm > Pupae > Beetle (And so on)
Back when I was into aquariums pothos were a big part of my filtration systems. They grew pretty darn well in nothing but fish water on the back of a giant HOB. With that said the roots that grow into water are definitely different than the ones that utilize soil.
I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but wouldn't dragonflies make GREAT treats? They're extremely common around me so I barely notice them. I have a small pond in my backyard and there's always 3-4 dragonflies patrolling their territories, and the same ones stick around for weeks. So...
Just be sure to limit them as treats, I'm sure the beetles are even less nutritous since they store less food and are have more chitin than even the mealworms themselves.
The average humidity in my house is usally around 65%-75%, in my room on any given summer day it's usually 75%-80%. Will this eliminate the constant need for misting other than for hydration?
So far I have just about everything I need for my upcoming veiled, however I'm still a little concerned about my variety of food. ATM, I only have constant access to crickets, mealworms, and superworms. I don't believe I'll be able to start up a roach colony for several months, and until my...

Bought it to repot some ficus, schefflera, and pothos. It says it's made from peat moss, assorted barks, and pastuerized poultry litter. Safe? I plan...
Roachcrossing is a great site, but Kyle (The owner) won't be able to make any shipments till March 3rd since he's here in Florida on a roach research trip. Another great site I found is http://www.floridaroaches.com/, but they're currently sold out of discoids. I emailed them but no response, so...
Just a note, celery, apples, lettuce, and potatoe and not a sufficient gutload. Celery and lettuce (specifically iceberg) should not be fed for nutrition since they're mostly just water, potatoes aren't great either. A good gutload for crickets should be a low fat kitten food or chicken layer...
I'm ordering some lights from lllreptile; the 24" fixture says it fits an 18" bulb, but they sell both 24" and 18" bulbs. When a bulb is referred to as 24", does this mean the bulb is 24 inches long, or that it will fit a 24" fixture? Thanks.
I hate crickets. It doesn't mean I won't use them, but for the past 5 years I could no longer stand using them as staples. So, would green banana roaches (Panchlora nivea) work as a good staple for a veiled chameleon? I plan to work in crickets, silkworms, mealworms, waxworms, and maybe soldier...
I planted mublerry trees 3 years ago for the purpose of breeding silkies. Still havn't gotten around to aquiring the worms yet, though. I find raising feeders to be pretty fun. Maybe it's because I like insects and free stuff. :P
