My panther chameleon has been shedding often as well. I purchased him 6/18/2011 at a little under 8 weeks old and he's already shed 3/4 times. His colors are starting to come through nicely now.
Careful with your veiled growing too quickly. I had a veiled that grew much to quick and in turn...
If you cannot get pinhead crickets at your local petshop a good place to order them would be from ghann's cricket farm. I have heard nothing but good from them. Another good thing to feed baby chameleons is fruit flies.
Looks almost like sunken eyes which are caused by dehydration. Are you making sure that she is getting sufficient water through misting several times a day?
Since my panther chameleon is kept in a cage outdoors 24/7 and constantly gets natural sunlight will it be harmful to switch to this multivitamin in place of rep-cal calcium w/o d3 and rep-cal multivitamin?
They both look like males to me. If you can take a picture of the tail vent, we can give you a better answer. Looking at its color though, looks male to me.
My 4 month old panther enjoys them. He currently eats between 5-7 crickets, two dubia roaches, and two phoenix worms a day. I also give him occasional locusts I found out in my lawn. He loves them.
You can feed it everything that is as big or smaller than the spacing between the chameleons eyes. That is a safe general rule to follow in feeding chameleons.
Dubia roaches, locusts, silkworms, phoenix worms, and superworms the correct size will all be great to feed your chameleon.
I feed my panther small locusts from my yard with no problem. As long as you can make sure there are no pesticides in the area the grasshoppers may have ingested it will be fine. Parasites are also a worry to some. If you're worried that wild grasshoppers might give your chameleons parasites you...
The way I have seen them being shipped is in two separate boxes. One slightly bigger box then a smaller box inside that one where the dubia roaches are kept with a small piece of egg carton inside. That way they do not move too much during shipment and when you open the bigger box they are not...
I also live in Florida and keep my chameleon outside all day in his outdoor enclosure and he does just fine. I make sure he has shade in certain sections of his cage so that he has room to move around and not overheat.
You can take him outside to get natural UVB from the sun for an hour or two 3/4 times a week until your reptisun comes in and he will be fine. It is summer now so depending where you live the temperatures should be warm enough.
Lizards are designed to take falls. I had a 2 year old iguana take a 35+ foot drop from a tree onto my lawn ( I think it helped that the grass was a bit long since we hadn't mowed it) with no injuries at all. Chameleons can take a small 4 foot drop with no problem for the most part.
I've got two piercings but no tats. I am considering getting a half sleeve but haven't even gotten down to starting it yet. The girl friend has got 7 and I've got none. The fact that it'll be on my body forever deters than anything else.
