These crickets were introduced when the cricket virus was wiping out almost all of the regular brown crickets. They're immune to the virus and hardier than regular crickets. They are ok to feed off and are meatier than regular crickets so you have to feed off less of them to your chameleons. The...
I've seen your morphs pictures. It's interesting how I see resemblances in their colors. Especially when he turns the dark greenish/black colors. Very cool that you also have the same panther morph as I do. :)
Yeah, I love the colors he's beginning to show already! Can't wait to see how much he colors up in the following months. :)
I'm surprised myself that he's got so much color for being mostly nosy be.
My little guy is currently approaching 5 months and beginning to show some nice colors. I was curious about his parents and was able to find a picture of them on the pet shops facebook page mating in August 2010. This led to the clutch my panther came from. :)
The father is 100% Nosy be and...
Glad you were able to find your little cham. Much better for him to be lost inside than outside. I lost a panther chameleon that size outside once and was lucky to find him on a small palm tree next to his cage.
It's all up to the owner and or what the cham prefers. Some think it's better to freerange the feeders as it gets the cham to actually go out and hunt it's food similar to how it would in the wild. If the cham is rather small and is being housed in a big cage he/she may find it hard for it to...
For veiled chameleons males will show more pronounced coloring but the females can still have great colors. It is not like female panther chameleons where many times they are always just a peachy color. I have seen female veileds that have showed great coloring. For your first chameleon however...
This is just them getting older. When I had my veiled his eating slowed down considerably at about 6-7 months of age. I would not worry about it unless you see either of their health deteriorating.
I buy them at a local exotic family owned pet shop. Whenever I buy 2 dozen for the week they give me about 50-60 crickets and are very generous. They also sell 1,000 crickets for 20 bucks. I'm very lucky to have the pet shop close buy to me.
I would say he's closer to 3/4 months. My panther chameleon looked that size at 3 months. Once they hit about 4 months they begin to grow rapidly. My cham just about doubled in size.
The nurseries can't compete with the low prices of a big corporation like Home Depot or Lowes. That must explain the drastic price differences in the two.
I hadn't heard about this movie. I just checked out a few trailers and it actually looks pretty good. Made by the same people as Pirates of the Caribbean, too. I'll probably check this movie out soon.
