I have two cultures of Blaberus species I want to get rid of.
These are fast breeders and grow quickly. Perfect feeders for bigger animals like monitors, tegus, etc. Some bigger chameleons like oustaleti, verrucosus, panthers, & parsons also like the nymphs.
First culture is...
My female is currently laying eggs.
I'm just astonished that after doing a search on the forum, we have surprisingly SEVERAL nearly identical threads about people remarking about their montiums laying eggs...and then nothing. I rarely if ever see any followup CB babies for sale.
I really think...
That's awesome! How soon after hatching do they eat/shed? Do they acclimatize to the circadian clock immediately (in other words - if one hatches 20 minutes before sun down, will he march around or stay put and sleep)? Do they hatch in the morning? Or at all hours of the day between all of them...
I wish I had read this thread before I went and bought a cool mist humidifier. I have enough humidity (too much actually) but I was hoping it would condense water on the leaves for drinking.
After watching Exo Terra's video on the visit to Cameroon, I was surprised to see that the forest(s) that had the Trioceros montiums actually literally had running water in the form of waterfalls in them. I also recall I think Chris Anderson saying the temp where the chams themselves were found...
The reptariums are underrated systems I think. Overpriced if you compare them to the DIY cages (superior I think) since it's just plastic, but for ease of put-together and mobility (I like to move them outside in the backyard during the summer) they're good. The only thing is I use a 10.0 bulb...
Guerilla glue right now sounds like an excellent option. I also like the idea of the ledges winter, but if I do that, I might as well just glue the branches directly to the wall. Maybe just a bead of it, that way if I want to move them or take them out I can just take a razor to it.
I don't...
I want to turn my closet into a cage for large chams. I have large 40" pieces of wood 4-5" in diameter (pieces of lilac we just chopped down). I want to hang them horizontally across the closet.
What is most practical/easy way to do this? I don't care about mess or messing up the wall. I'm...
They're absolutely awful. They're small, quick, can climb, and can fly. If you hold them with your hand their legs prick/irritate your skin. I don't know why you wouldn't pick something else honestly.
Thanks for the info guys very interesting. How many chams from import/Florida have you worked with downsouth? Are you sure they weren't just individual circumstances?
Well I never took pics of the parents, so that's a no-go. After googling U. ebenaui I agree they are in fact ebenaui offspring. I did not realize the hatchlings would have a different, stumpy tail compared to the phantasticus. So I learned something then.
The young one has shed twice now and is...
