I'm glad you asked it. I am about to replace my UVB and was wondering the same, but was afraid to ask. I have a 5.0, but I think I will bump it up to a 10.0 based on the reponses. Thanks for your bravery.:D
I keep dubias and hissers together in a colony and both species are doing great. I like the color on the green banana roaches and might try them in the future.
Don't feel bad about your weight. I have a great body (toot toot:D), but I have not felt comfortable or been in a bathing suit more than a dozen times for 15 years or more. I have psoriasis and that makes me very self conscious and even makes "adult" relationships and intimacy very hard for...
I don't see the need to eliminate foods when trying to lose weight. It is about moderation. You can either eat less, exercise more, or do both and lose it in half the time. I have been able to maintain a weight window from 135-175 (currently 145-150) since the 90's and still fit my dress...
I have a 4" double light fixture with a regular flourescent bulb and a reptiglo 5.0 UVB. I have this placed right on top of the side by side 2x2x4 cages (with divider). I also have a separate basking light for each cage. This has been working well, which reminds me it's time for a new UVB...
I keep dubias and hissers in the same colony without any problems. Both are breeding fine. The hissers do take longer to mature and breed, but those things are HUGE as adults and it takes some time to get them there.
I just used regular topsoil from Home Depot (no additives or fertilizers). I will get play sand for the next time. I really don't like how dirty she gets from the topsoil.
Give it time. She was really thirsty after laying her eggs. It's the cutest thing. I got my veiled pair as babies almost a year ago. Just be patient and give proper care and they can surprise you with something new. It's always exciting to discover a new behavior.
My veiled laid her third clutch of eggs (second fertile). She had been digging for a few days and trying tunnels and burying them. I was starting to worry, but this morning she was much thinner and the hole she slept in last night was covered.
I started to dig and found the "tip of the...
Butterworms cannot be cultured. They are irradiated or something to make them not pupate.

The dirt covers her. I suppose they probably close their eyes to help avoid it. but it is probably inevitable. No laying yesterday. She didn't cover the hole, so I am thinking she needs to rest before the arduous task of "finishing touches" to her bin and egg laying. Maybe today?????
My veiled girl has dug a nice hole and was putting on finishing touches when she spotted me with the camera. I think she'll probably be laying today/tonight.
I'm no expert on the matter, but I would say just get them back up to the optimal temp. I have pondered the fluctuations in temps for the eggs and figure that in the wild there is never a constant temperature and weather is always changing, so some minor occurances (such as this) shouldn't have...
Here's a good website to check the UV available by hour for your area. I get mine out as often as possible, weather permitting (which it hasn't been for the last couple weeks). But today is a nice day, I'm off, and the chams are gonna get some long awaited sun...
