So Danny’s XL enclosure arrived today. How should I rig up plants so that there foliage around the top of the enclosure rather than just resting on the bottom? It’s a screen cage so I couldn’t use suction or glue or anything like that.
My plants are still young and not large enough to rest on...
Thank you both for the advice. I still have about a week until the cage gets here (curse you Amazon for not delivering faster), so I’ll have to think over my options and figure out what’s going to be best.
Danny’s XL cage is on the way! I’m ordering some trays for the substrate but I wanted to know what substrate would work best.
Currently I’m using exoterra rainforest terrarium substrate with a layer of moss on top.
I want something that will be friendly to plants. I want to be able to grow...
I recently made a trip to the store and bought a veggie mix containing broccoli, lettuce, carrots, and red cabbage. I researched to see how good these would be and I’ve seen mixed reviews in the red cabbage.
It’s apparently high in vitamin C but I read somewhere else that it can lower calcium...
Any tips on how to give him the medicine orally? He doesn’t really like being touched and I have no idea how to get his mouth open long enough to give him the stuff
I only know that ascarids cause asthma like symptoms. At least in dogs. Which might explain the weird blowing sound he makes occasionally which I thought was a hiss
thank you very much for the information . I’m hoping for the best when it comes to his treatment. He’s eating and drinking and...
The results from Danny’s fecal sample. Very sad to see. Thankfully the treatment is inexpensive and easy. I’m not sure how he got them or how long he’s had them.
She only had him for 2 weeks. Maybe 3 weeks at most.
I’m going to try and take the fecal in tomorrow after work. He just dropped some after I put him back in. It’s a smaller amount than usual but it’ll do for the testing.
I’m being the fecal in later.
I’ve owned snakes before and we NEVER used a tool to sex them. I’ve never even heard of that but like you said, I am new to chameleons. He seems okay though. Once he got settled I fed him a few dubias which he very happily ate.
I do think he’s getting ready to...
They also said it was very unusual for a pet store to be carrying an adult panther, and that usually they’re babies.
I don’t know anything about that and I definitely can’t figure out where this pet store sources their chameleons.
He also weighs about 100g if anyone could tell me if that’s...
I guess I should also add that they used some sort of tool to sex him and apparently determine he’s a female but I couldn’t really see because of the angle. I would’ve gotten closer but A) didn’t want to be in the way, B) Danny was very stressed already.
Oh my goodness! I had no idea about the male panthers not having spurs. I just assumed that applied to all chameleons. I took pictures of the back feet anyways.
Unfortunately he’s the only exotic vet in my area until I move for college. I guess I should’ve been concerned when his technicians...
I thought the same thing. I’m still not entirely convinced. But I saw the back of his/her feet and there didn’t seem to be any spurs. I guess I’m just all around confused haha. I’ll try to get a picture of the feet and the mysterious substance coming from the hemipenal area.
Update on Danny after today’s vet visit! Everything looked great although they asked me to bring In a fecal.
When I first got Danny I was told he was a she.
This was the picture I showed on this forum and we collectively decided she was he. Danny.
Well today at the vet they noticed ‘he’...
