I got the brother from David last Monday. We just love him (the Cham not David - but I'm sure David is lovable :D )
Great smooth transaction and I did 2 fecals on the guy and both came up 100% clean. Can't beat that. Our last two Chams arrived as parasite cocktails.
I'm wondering if any members have experience with doing this. And if so, if the method worked successfully.
I need to do this for a Cham as the only delivery method since we can't get anything directly from the lungs to diagnose the mysterious respiratory issue.
Aside from when they're too hot?
Got back from the vet and since we couldn't get a catheter down his trachea to inject and remove saline for a culture we're not sure. X-rays show clear lungs.
He gaps more than I ever recall. Cool temps as well. We're going to try nebulizing some...
Got back from a frustrating but informative day at the vet with this mysterious gaping issue.
The vet commented on the how yellow his mouth was in places and wondered if that's just normal for some Ambanja's.
Can you upload pics of your Ambanja's open mouth if you have them? Much appreciated.
ahum. I'm the one who did the research on the dull side of the foil. But Dave is the one who told me to use foil in the first place. :)
Thanks for the heavy lifting on the readings!
Ok here's the deal. He'll be soooooo happy chances are he'll be a good little boy for a few days and even up to a week not leaving the tree. Then its all over. He'll be exploring everywhere. But, and we look for ours several times a day if we're going out and want to make sure they're in their...
I thought that was you. This one is strange as there's no mucus in the throat but I see him swallow sometimes. It has to be from the nasal passages.
Baytril never works for this guy with respiratory issues. Fortaz has in the past but this one is bizarre. I'll call Stein tomorrow. He was out...
That's hilarious!:D If we get one more Cham that's how I feel. We walk around with flash lights at night in their rooms so we don't wake them up. Its annoying.
I've always free ranged. Its going on 7 years. Over 10 Chams or 73 if you count the clutch we had for a while. I only mention this because in that time the Chams have been exposed to just about everything.
I don't know anything about looking like snakes. I would only be worried if you didn't...
I'm going to take him in for tests. We conferred and felt this would knock it out without a painful lung swab. He said mouth swabs are useless. He used to do them all the time until he realized there's just too many variables to give a reliable test result for treatment.
He said the only...
Let the chams go free. :D As long as you don't have other animals that may hassle them. The Chams are just so much happier free range if you can accommodate it.
Been battling a mysterious respiratory infection. Never any signs of liquid/mucus bubbles in the throat. He gaps often. Had him on 20 days of antibiotics (10 Baytril 10 Fortaz).
I'm now thinking its URI rather than LRI because I can hear wheezing through his sinuses when his mouth is closed...
Sold!
Went to meet David in a nice park near him. The cham was as described and David was really great. The guy looks very healthy and well taken care of. We're very happy with the purchase. Smooth and friendly. Just as all Cham sales should be.
