Lenny hits a moving target.

This is Lenny shooting at a Dubia roach. After laying her clutch she's been a bit on the aggressive side when she sees food. She would even start to aim at your hand if you raised it into view. To demonstrate I grabbed a Dubia and held it out as I walked by her range, you can see her start to track it pretty soon after I come in her view.

Here she is chewing on the roach some more. Kathrine, I know you had talked about lobe flapping when Melleri eat. You can see Lenny doing it a little here. After the excitement of catching some food you'll notice her become shy and start to sway and watch the camera. She has become shy of the camera for some reason... She now flaps and gapes at the camera when I have it near her .

Is there supposed to be two videos? They are both linked to one video. Just fyi.

That is an awesome cham and thanks for showing us your Melleri!

I couldn't get the video link to work this morning. They both linked to the same video for me too (first one). She's a gorgeous chameleon and she really wanted that roach!:D

Crunch, crunch, crunch....

That's a great video. Was that done with a phone camera or a video camera? I love the crunching sounds. My Layla won't perform for a camera like Lenny. She won't chew while I am watching. I have to turn my back on her before she will crunch. I fed her a roach the other day that squirted and hit me with goo when she zapped it and bit down on it. Thanks for sharing Lenny with us!

My melleri is a super aggressive feeder, aims at anything once the cage is open. He/she always flaps the lobes when chewing too, it looks to me like the act of chewing is making them flap. Summoner, you think maybe they control the flapping when eating? Did Lenny never do that before?

LOL I fed Lenny a large HW the other day and she shot at the middle of it... so when she pulled it into her mouth it made a U shape so the head and butt were facing me................ then she bit down with all her mite as if intentionally trying to spray me with HW juice......... hit me in the face and shot on the wall behind me that was like 6 feet from her.

She can be aggressive with her feeders sometimes.:)

I am using a old POS PAS canon.... I think its a powershot something or other.

She is camera shy sometimes though. Like the other day she was being really cute and rubbing some shedding skin on branches and I pulled out the camera and she stopped and started to gape and flap her lobes... it was pretty funny. :D

I think it has to do with the type of feeder... I don't see her do it as much with HWs... but with Dubias, she does. When I feed her an adult male Dubia she flaps more. I think its to do with how she is handling the dryness.... like the wings are sticking to the top of her mouth so she opens her mouth wider. HWs she just kinda chews up enough to swallow.

That's Hysterical!

What a riot. I saw the Gesang's male flapping at their female when I saw my first Melleri in person at their home. I didn't realize they would flap at people too. It reminds me of my two adult iguanas. They will each move their head from side to side slowly and then start shaking it up and down at me as their way of greeting me. I can't wait for my Melleri to feel comfortable enough with me to flap at me. Thanks for the morning LOL :)

The head bobbing is a show of dominance... right? At least that's what I was told by a local keeper.

Lobe flapping is neat. When Lenny does it I just leave her alone. I don't like to push buttons.

Very Cool Videos Kevin...

The moving target thing is interesting. About a year ago I witnessed my female veiled Sookie snag a fly in her cage from the air. I was never sure if they did this or not. But when I looked up into her cage and she had both eyes up front sort of swinging her head in circles I thought she was drunk... Until just I noticed the fly buzzing around she shot it clear out of the air. It was very very cool.

Ya know Lenny will shoot at fruit flies zipping around near her UVB lamp. Renee has told me she'll be sitting on the couch doing homework and her a 'whap' on the foil reflector and see Lenny smacking her lips like she ate something. Other times she has seen her aiming and watched her snag the fly. I've only seen her aim... Renee will call me into the room and as soon as Lenny sees me watching she gets shy... or thinks I'm bring something bigger than a measly FF. :D
