I would stick with the cup feeding. It may be that she is having trouble finding the crix. She will eventually get the hang of cup feeding, I assure you. Don't expect her to sit and eat all the crix in one sitting...she will probably graze throughout the day. I would put a dozen crix in the cup...
Seriously...?
No one knows what to do with these big suckers?
I can't let them go, no reason to allow them to pupate...the moths would also be too big for my chams... no reason to keep them, as it will be awhile before I would have a cham big enough to eat one without choking....I...
I agree with Mr. Jackson here... :)
I had my first 2 Ambilobe panthers for over a month before either of them shed. They are growing wonderfully, and I have no concerns. I wouldn't worry, it will happen.
2 crix a day is definitely not enough. At 4 months old I believe she should be eating 10-15 crix a day. You have only had them a short while I believe, right? It could be her trying to adjust. Are they being cup fed? This way you would know the exact number she is eating a day. Is she drinking ok?
Hey there,
The best thing for you to do in this situation is to fill this out:
Chameleon Info:
* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
* Feeding - What are you...
My favorite site for supplies, vitamins, ect. (they have a lot) is:

And for feeders I LOVE:

Enjoy your baby Ambilobe. I love mine. Where did you get him or her? Age? Red Barred or Blue Barred?
OMG, a post with noth Dubz and DNB in it...as an Old Skool party kid, I gotta love that.
I love Dubstep, especially Robostep, but I will always have love for my dnb.
I have never tried playing any music for my chams, but I would imagine that it is the bass that gets them. From my...
I didn't realize you could smoke chameleons....LOL :D The name of this thread caught me off guard. As to the above post, I think it's insufferable when people try and get their animals "high". In my opinion, if the animal can't make this choice on it's on, like you can, it shouldn't be forced...
All my chameleons (oldest is just under 8 months old) seem to do this little side-step juke maneuver when my hand enters their enclosure....it's like they become one with the stick. It's perfectly normal, and to me, quite hilarious!
So I have had these hornworms for around 2 weeks...there were some small ones in there, but now they look like something out of a cheesy 70's horror movie....I'm seriously weirded out by them...
So my question is, these worms are WAY too big to feed to any of my chams, so....what now?
Oh geez, if his ambient temp was 88, I can only imagine what the basking was. I would go with a lower wattage bulb to avoid this happening again, measure the basking temp often, and keep it in the mid to low 80's. I would guess he was simply WAY too hot and was trying to bring his temp down...
I believe the low 70's would be a bit too chilly. He needs his heat to help him digest what he eats. I would find a temp in the 80's that he can deal with, and keep an eye on him for more panting.
Does he seem to be breathing ok and everything? No crackling or wheezing sounds?
I agree with Ace on this one. No need for a heat lamp at night unless there is a severe temp drop. Chams need a little temp drop at night, and dark to sleep.
