My solarmeter should be here on the 16th, so I will take measurements and report back when it arrives. The unit comes with double sided tape, I just stuck it right to the side of the screen cage.
Thanks! That is very kind of you to offer to send that to a complete stranger. I actually just ordered one online and I will post up readings as soon as it arrives.
Not sure if it is worth it yet, but it looks nice. Replacement lamps run about $30 so maintenance wise it should be the same as buying 5.0's and heat lamps.
I posted some pictures of my sun ray side by side with a uvb 5.0 cfl and 25w basking lamp in this thread.

Well, I bit the bullet and purchased 2 of the 35w sun rays for both of my panthers. I worked in the aquarium lighting industry for a number of years and was not expecting much in the way of a ballast, but upon disassembling one of my fixtures I was pleasantly surprised to see a fullham...
Do you have any test results proving that statement? I have not run tests on these lamps myself so I can only go on the information provided by Exoterra, the manufacturer of the fixture and lamp. They state that at 12 inches the mh lamp should produce 160 uw/cm2.
Why do you say that you do not want UVB penetration? That is precisely what we want, we want to create a gradient where they can regulate the amount of light.
Well stated, if I may add, use of coil or linear tubes will depend on your setup, while the linear lamps will cover more area horizontally, you will get more penetration down into your cage with a stronger lamp wether it be a CFL, T5HO, MVB, or MH. I used a CFL UVB Reptisun 5.0 from May until...
She has always been pretty plump, since the day I picked her up. Compared to my male she is fat. She has darkened up considerably since the last picture and I am positive that she is gravid now. She is pushing about 50 grams as of yesterday, my question is do her darker colors mean she is...
It's about time to replace my lamps and i was looking at the sun ray halide fixture from Exoterra, but i can't find very many reviews. Is anyone currently using this fixture? I was thinking the 35w should be more than enough for a 2x2x4 along with a 24 inch t5ho for added light.
