Thanks Andrew! Yeah... third time we changed it! He ratted out some other chams back in Florida, so we had to make sure they'd never find the little guy! Nugget seemed to be least suspicious!! :D
Thanks!! Got the fixture from home depot for $30. It's a little flimsy, but looks nice being diamond plate pattern metal. It's really reflective too. I've got a reptisun 5.0 & a 6500k flouro in there, 48".
Yeah, he's a fiesty little guy alright. I don't handle him except when I have too...
I think we're finally done changing the little guy's name, we decided on Nugget. :D
Cleaned & rearranged his cage this morning...
The sire is Hefner from Red Island.
Everyone says mealworms can cause impaction due to the high chitin content. As jdub said, this could be your problem. They're definately not something you steadily want to feed your chameleon. People say superworms are definitely better than mealworms, but still not great. If you have to...
The slate this works out really good with the crickets trying to hide... however, everytime I feed him, I still have to pull out his 3 pieces of wood, his water bowl, food bowl & that monster piece of limestone hes sitting on in the picture. Let him eat for 10 minutes or so, pull the leftover...
Since I've laid a ton of slate tile at my house, I ended up cutting some extra pieces to fit my 40 gal tank, applied some gloss sealer to the top of it. Looks nice & easy to clean. If I'm lucky, my bearded will make his plop in the center of one piece, that way I can pull that one piece out...
I would quarantine them for a while, feed them good & see what happens. Would be ashame to enact roach genocide if you don't have too... Those little buggars aren't cheap & I know I'm proud to finally have mine breeding. :D
If their egg crates continue to grow mold, they don't do well...
Chameleons usually won't eat any dried bugs. You need to be able to provide live crickets (or another live feeder... roaches, grasshoppers, etc.). Gut load the crickets at least 24 hours or more before you feed them to you chameleon so that they're full of good stuff for your cham. Good luck!
Dunno... I use virtually the same components as you did & mine take right to it within minutes. I grind mine down with a food processor & freeze a bunch of ice cube trays full of it.
Do you have a dry gutload powder in there with them of some sort that they might prefer to the gutload you...
you should tell him to join this forum & see how most people are keeping their chameleons. The majority have at least two screened sides on their enclosures. More people in europe seemed to have less screen, not sure where you're located...
In any case, you definately want it taller than...
