Huh… My issue is the manner in which he communicates with us…so negative and accusing. We are terrible and kill chameleons while those in Europe or another place do it right and so much better…we suck, blah blah blah. I tried to attribute it to language difference, or even a cultural...
Where? Am I blind? lol 😂 I did miss the dome light fixtures in the pics.
I do need to correct you…
**If using the T8 fixture that you show for uvb, the strength of the uvb bulb needs to be 10.0 or Arcadia 12%. However, since the T8 is only 18”, getting the 24” T5 would provide better coverage...
Hi and welcome! :) We can most definitely help you. For lights, you need a linear UVB, preferably a T5 (you currently seem to have a T8) with either an Arcadia 6% or ReptiSun 5.0. While a good uvb light can be a bit pricey, it’s no where near $200. I suggest going thru...
I am having mixed feelings (personally) about our use and overuse of vets when it comes to chameleons and chameleons only. We are very often quick to send people off to the vet. I’m just as guilty, so don’t be coming for me. I suspect different reasons for it - fear of saying something which may...
I did hesitate and thought about posting these links as I know and remember too well some past controversies with Petr. For the most part, he has stayed away from here, except to occasionally dredge up very old posts and tell us how wrong we are, before then leaving us on our own and in peace...
Petr Necas has/is writing some short articles which are most interesting. https://www.chameleons.info/l/deadly-chameleon-myths-series-where-ignorance-ends-and-rigor-begins/ So far, I do find that the general husbandry which we as a whole follow is right in step. Currently, only five are posted...
When a male panther that I was given did the same as your girl, a vet visit proved he was healthy with the exception of a parasite (pinworm). Once treated for the parasite, his appetite lost all limitations and he eats everything now. So, start with a vet visit and parasite check. I also advise...
His casque looks fine to me and he looks healthy. While metabolic bone disease is often responsible for many malformations and disfigurement of casques, I believe for mild bending, and in the absence of mbd, it can be a genetic trait.
That’s rotten! I know lacewings will help eliminate them, and just read Apply diatomaceous earth under your plant's leaves every seven days to work to eliminate a thrip infestation. First, mist your plant and its soil with water. Using a dispenser, apply the product to the leaves, stems, and...
Just keep letting it grow and as it gets long enough, train it by wrapping it around branches in the direction you want. Adding a bit of natural fertilizer (like insect poo) may help it grow.
Welcome Peaches and your human servants too. :) It’s wonderful to be able to explore and get lots of exercise, but make sure to get enough time under your artificial sun to keep your bones strong and healthy.
Once again, dipping a toe in the wild waters of Facebook to advise someone with a lady veiled. Even just one insult and they’re on their own.
