So I've had Chip for about 2.5 months now. He's about a year old. Not my first chameleon so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing.
Unlike my panther who was always sweet and wanted to come out of the cage, this guy is a total nutcase.
I got him at a reptile expo in early June. The first 2...
thank you all for the replies. I will have my friend create an account so she can provide some more info on the cham. All I know is he's a panther who had an illness that was since cured with medicines/vet and he is physically perfect but might have some mental issues cause he can't climb...
I know I've seen this here before. A friend of mine that lives in Seattle is moving to Europe and cannot find anyone to take care of his cham. I would do it myself but I don't have the space/time for it.
I know I've seen a site here before where someone/ some organization will accept chams. I...
I live in PA, and I would say it's usually around 70 in his room all the time as I keep my AC on, but turned down a few degrees for his area.
His whole life I've always used both a T5 and daylight blue lamp. He's always been fat and healthy, and still is now. It used to be 75w but I got a...
I just noticed these weird spots on both of OJ's "elbows" (not sure if that's anatomically correct)
I don't really handle him very often and almost never hold him below me so I haven't noticed these before. One is just a slight yellowish tinge and the other one sort of looks like a gemstone...
Yes it is 1/4"
Do I really need a booster pump to power only 2 nozzles? I was thinking a submersible pond pump would work fine. In taking the Monsoon apart the pump in there is so so tiny, and it did a good enough job while it worked. It actually powered 3 lines and was about 4-5' lower than the...
I was on a budget and didn't spring for a Mist King when I first got my setup done back in August of last year.
Up until this past week, I've had no issues with the Monsoon.
It's now completely dead, the board is fried. I've resorted to hand misting since then a few times a day. I can really...
Wow I haven't looked at his old pics for a while. Can't believe how fast they grow. Here's OJ at 2.5 months to now at 10.5 months, each pic being roughly 3-4 weeks apart.
Sorry for all the pics, didn't want to in-line them and make my post way too long.
Is there any harm to using 2 UVB bulbs? When I first got him I got the double dome you see up top, which has a T5 and a 75watt blue bulb. Also got him a 24" T5 that's near the back of the cage. I didn't feel like buying a new dome for just his heat light. Should I remove the T5 from the dome...
He seems to totally love it. The pic of him is his final few minutes in his old 18x18x36, he knew something was going down haha.
He's about 9-10 months old. He's a grump but he seems to actually be getting better at being handled, which I only attempt about once a week.
OJ turned 4 months old today. I don't handle him too often, but this is the first time he's opened his mouth at me. I know he's puffed up, but does he look overweight? He eats everything I throw at him and never looks overweight just chillin in his cage.
I don't see a lot of topics about...
Yep, its a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labord%27s_chameleon
"Like other Furcifer species (F. antimena, F. lateralis), F. labordi has an obligate year-long lifecycle. It lives for only about 4 to 5 months, making it the shortest lifespan ever recorded for a four legged vertebrate.[4][5] In...
You're totally right. I'm a total novice at cham keeping but when I was asking a Petco employee about the veileds they had there, I was shocked at how terribly misinformed they were.
I'd love to get a look at the guidelines they give the animal handlers at the chain stores. 3 sub-adults housed...
This has got to be the worst top 10 list I've ever clicked on while wasting time at work.

Check out number 7. I wonder if they mean a Labord's.
How many of us would still attempt to keep Panthers if that was true...
Update...he definitely eats the crap outta these!
He tends to wait until I've left the room after putting his feeders on his favorite leaf to actually start hunting
I put the biggest hornworm I had on his leaf and walked out of the room. 1 minute later I walk in and see him with this giant...
