I would argue that the Mistking system is worth every penny! It is very well made and has made my life way easier.... But I use it to mist 9 cages for over an hour each day. If you only have one or two cages, it might be just as easy to mist by hand. That being said, I have also used the Big...
I agree with Jessica... Let them settle in a while then have a fecal done before you treat for anything. I would give them LOTS of opportunity for drinking. Do you have a mist system? Good drainage for your cages? My melleri get misted for more than an hour per day and drink ALOT for a long...
I have tried several different tubs.. different colours, depths, shapes. different laying media... sand, soil, mixes etc. Inside her cage, larger ones outside the cage. Left her in the tubs for days on end. Still no digging! She randomly drops eggs! One or two a day for the last few days. So far...
Mellers require ALOT of water and even more space. I mist for more than an hour through-out the day... My mellers take their time starting to drink then drink alot for a long time. I mist for 20 minutes @ 9:30 am, 10 @ 11am, 10 @ 1pm, 10 @ 3pm, 10 @ 5 and 20 again @ 7. I also pick a couple days...
Hey there! On the local online classified adds there are always people begging for free reptile/cham supplies. This drives me NUTS! Oh, please, give me bla bla bla as I just got a new bla bla and need something or other desperately... What is with these people!? Hello, I'm so & so, a not for...
I regret poking holes in all my cages... Then I saw summoner12's post about rain domes and made my own for my new cages. They work great with no holes! Maybe search rain dome. Cheers!
I would say my chams are very food motivated... Almost all my chams seem to recognize me as their "feeds me" and are quite interested in my arrival. lol Try hand feeding. Cheers!
Great photos! I have placed a temporary small bin inside her enclosure.... no sign of use yet and she is still chubby & a little bumpy. I leave to work out of town in the morning and intend to try the larger more isolated bucket if she hasn't laid by the time I return sunday. The temporary bin...
I have had a few cages shipped to Canada from the US... Always a hassle with Canada customs. Your cage will sit waiting to be cleared for what seems to be a random amount of time and they will charge approximately 1/3 of its price as duty and taxes. Cheers!
WC animals can be hard to acclimate to captivity. Your best bet is to give them a home which approximates their natural environment as closely and as stress free as possible. 1 animal per enclosure, LOTS of water and quiet time to adjust. As Laurie said, offer as wide a variety of feeders as you...
Thanks for the info! I have read that the eggs benefit from a diapause of a few degrees during the second month of incubation... any thoughts or experience with this? Cheers!
