putting a hole int metal screen

Ok My wife scored me 3 XL zoomed reptibreeze enclosures. Now I need to figure out how to easily poke a hole in the screen for a misting nozzle without it ruining the screen.? The hole only needs to be 1/4" big.

Take a phillips screwdriver on one side, and place your hand / fingers on the other side, for screen support. Lightly push down, while spinning screwdriver. It should make a neat hole the size of the screwdriver shaft.

i have a smaller reptibreeze for my lil cham. and i used zip ties to hold some vines and branches down. so i just simply slid them in the screen, and they gradually made the holeas big as needed. didn't mess the screen up around the hole any.

this is what I was thinking. I could probably push the screen treads without cutting them...

I regret poking holes in all my cages... Then I saw summoner12's post about rain domes and made my own for my new cages. They work great with no holes! Maybe search rain dome. Cheers!

i just finished putting my mistking into my new reptibreeze cages hese a few pics

i just used the pointed screwdriver and poked it throught the screen and rotated it around and gradually made the hole big enough. i used the mounting plate as a guide.

I like to hot glue plastic washers over the screen hole on both sides so the wires are covered and it doesn't tend to tear later. Also looks neater.

Putting a hole into metal screen

From my experience using a nail with a sharp point works the best. The tip fits into the holes in the screen very well unlike a screwdriver which usually bends the screen sometimes breaking it. If you apply a small amount of pressure to the tip of the nail the hole will start to form. You can rotate the nail however much you need to get the desired hole size. I would avoid using a screwdriver unless you dont mind a permanent hole. Hope this helps.

found a solution!

First I was was going to glue two washers together and cut the hole out then I found some tarp grommets

You simply hammer each side of the grommet and they snap together. I needed a 1/4" hole for an outdoor porch mister nozzle to fit through if I ever needed to I could just use a bolt with two washers to fill the hole.
