My chams eyes are closed. What do I do? Why are they closed? I'm very worried.
How do you feed them when they're eyes are closed?
Edit: Only ONE eye is closed.
I do see him making a swalling motion with his chin/neck when I mist, but his mouth doesn't open (only once has his mouth opened).
I use a fine mist, and when I mist him I do it from more of a distance than when I'm misting the plants.
I also don't really know what sunken eyes look like...
I do mist him with warm water.
If he's dehydrated I don't know what to do. I have a drip system that runs for 5 - 10 minutes 2 - 3 times daily, and when I mist I mist until the leaves are dripping wet, as well as misting him.
So his first shed in my care is finished! He now has beautiful patterns on him! There are pictures below :-) I also bought him a nice Ficus tree!
Alrighty, questions...
From the pictures, does he look good? Hydrated, and everything?
Meal Worms. I bought 'em, but he shys away from me...
Can I let my cham ride my doggy?
Haha, I'm joking, but I do have a question.
Does is stress out chams to have a dog walking around every so often?
The enclosure is in my room, and the door stays shut during the day, but whenever I walk in the dog is sure to follow. He's a medium-ish...
Camera makes no difference really...sure it might help with depth of field and such, but in all, it's the eye the photograher has. I'm a photographer and I work with a Nikon D80. Now that being said, I can take pretty much the same picture with my point-and-shoot.
One thing to be considered...
I've had my cham for 2 weeks and have not been able to handle him yet :(
He's shedding so whenever i come in he hides, but before that he used to puff up and hiss and me, which is scary haha
I do have a seperate tube flourescent light for the UV A+B. :-)
The night light is a dark blueish-purple light. From what I've researched chameleons cannot see in this spectrum (along with reds) so to them it's complete darkness. If I do have to remove it, would I just have no heat source for...
I mist him with tap water, but I did read about distilled water, so I wasn't sure. The gloves I use are black. I will look into a new hygrometer/thermometers, now that I know they are inconsistant. I've also been hunting for live plants, but the safe ones are difficult to find, which is...
YAY!
My cham (veiled) is shedding his first shed in my care! I'm really excited, but I must say, it's a weird thing to witness! Haha. I already see more colour in him, and he's been acting weird, but from reading the forums I see it's typical for them to act weird during a shed. he just hides...
Thanks!
Yeah, it's get way humid here some days during the summer. Canada isn't what everyone thinks...The summer will be 30C+ (86F+) almost everyday. :-)
Hey all!
Just a general question for when summer gets into full swing.
How do you go about keeping the humidity level down on those humid days? I would think a dehumidifier would work, but any other ways?
Very good post.
I had the same problem with my dog...he got really sick and I called numerous vets but no luck, so I had to take him into the Emergency Clinic which the visit alone is $100.
