They were starting to break down mate,hence why you were lucky to get them out,the toxins from the eggs breaking down would have kill her.

The eggs are all linked like a chain in early development,they are very old undeveloped eggs as kinyonga stated;) Better out then in!! i think you have been very lucky that they were expelled,or she would have died from toxic shock
