Its hard to tell the sex when they are young. Most dumb pet stores dont know enuf about chameleons to tell. Or they'll just tell you its a male so you will buy it.

At about 4 months of age males will begin to show some color, aswell as a "bump" just aft of the vent. By 7-8 months it would be obvious weather or not it was male or not. I see no "bump" and those are female colors.

I honestly think the females are just as beautiful as the males, in their own way.


If she is as you say 7-8 months its time to add a laying bin to her enclosure, as females can lay eggs weather or not the are bred. Use the search feature to learn more about "Laying Bins" and good luck to you and your beautiful female panther.

Female and my guess would be with eggs. They will lay an infertile clutch even when they are never around a male.

Well shes great anyways

You know I just never worried...i bought HER from a breeder in Ontario around me from meeting him on this site. I bought her young 2-3 months and was told she was a male. I just thought his colors were coming in slower lol. GUESS NOT! $300 I spent. Love taking care of her.
I'm expanding anyways and building a new larger 2 chameleon enclosure. Give me 2 weeks and I'll buy a male once it's built.
*Have to build a new cage for better drainage/I wanna free range crickets*

Anyone from Mississauga Ontario or around that wants the old cage CHEAP?? I'll buff and put more coats on...all hardwood, well even set it up with a pan/drainage!

Bart; She's a beautiful little pink girl. Enjoy her! Just get her a laying bin about 10 to 12 inches high with moist washed play sand to lay her eggs so she wont get egg bound and die. I see that happening on here quite often. If you get another chameleon you will need 2 cages. They can not be housed together.
