Thanks for the advice. He seems to have arrived in pretty good shape and is not nearly as shy as I anticipated (though he's only been here about 6 hours). He has eaten a ton and I've been watering well, and he is in a glass terrarium to help retain humidity. I'll keep everyone posted on him...
I'm curious as to whether or not those who are so adamant about keeping them in screen have ever housed (properly) chameleons in a glass enclosure. Your animals will not "boil" unless you become extremely careless or put them outdoors, which I'm assuming you're not. I would definitely...
That should be more than enough ventilation, and you can adjust the misting periods to accommodate the animal and any humidity issues. Many people use similar designs (3 or 4 solid walls/floor and screened front/top) with great success.
I wish we could get Asparagus falcatus around here (or at least around me if it is in the US), though I don't think it's available due to being a pest where it has been introduced. I use sprengeri sometimes but most available species seem too fragile for even the larger small species.
Great photos. This is at the top of the list of species I'd like to work with someday.
Luis, if you can find a way of keeping them outdoors (may be too hot in Fl), I'd definitely do it. My transvaalense really seem to respond well to being outdoors, more so than many other species I've had.
Good luck! Just curious...you've had parsonii for a good while from what I remember, so have they just never shown interest in each other or you simply never attempted breeding?
That's not an Ambanja...Looks like a Tamatave. Check out this pic from Chameleon Company for comparison..

Sorry to hear about that pair, but these two look great. My male has had the "fired up"/orange and black stripe pattern on for the last few days. I'll try to get some pics soon.
