Very nice looking animals and photos! Have you dealt with any abscesses or infections with them? My male has had a lingering eye issue. They've been outdoor this past week which seems to stimulate them, so I'll try to get some photos tomorrow.
edit: what are their appetites like and what do...
I have one female T. quad. gracilior for sale that I have had for about 2 years now. She was CB by Chuck G and is extremely healthy. I'd like to make room for other animals since I do not plan on breeding her. She'd make an excellent intro to montanes or a nice pet in general.
These pics...
Now that summer is winding down, I cannot seem to find these anywhere around me. I've been looking, and hoping some recent shipments to the nurseries would have them, but no luck. Anyway, I need to re-plant some of my terrariums and want to go with these since I know they'll do well. If you...
here is a picture of my custom glass enclosures by Protean. I ordered them late last year and have been using them for most of this year with great results. There are more plants in the terrariums now.
I guess I should have been a bit more alarmed when my K. xenorhina was fairly calm after his arrival, and not overly anxious around me while in the room. I've been leaving him alone for the most part, but today noticed swelling and discoloration at the back of his top left jaw. I did not see...
Good info, I'll consider that if mine seems to get even more anxious. He's been relatively calm when I'm in the room compared to other Kinyongia species I have/had, but we'll see.
How do you know what size the enclosure is? Also, look at how small he is compared to the enclosure (he is in the bottom left rear corner in last photo). Anyway, great photos Jared! Hopefully both of ours do well, can't wait for my guy's rostral appendage to get like yours. How large is he?
The glass strip really is no issue unless you're lighting units are huge. I have 16 inch wide enclosures that fit a double fluorescent fixture and a small incandescent fixture as well.
edit: This is how my palate looked once open and the plastic was removed. These came from CA to NJ and had...
Jason,
I think your design with 2-3 inch vents would be sufficient for many enclosures, but would also depend on the size of the terrarium. For something larger, 40 inches tall for example, I think around 5-6 inches would be even better. Obviously you know what sizes you sell you most, so...
I'm not sure if it is a problem or if it was a conscious effort by the importer to only bring in males for this shipment. He should be getting females in at a later date, though.
Nice pics, Jared! It's been pouring here all day and in the 90's most other days so I've been keeping my collection indoors. Glad the xenorhina arrived well.
