A mist king would also be great. You can use both. In fact, they are really two separate tools. The mist king will help with humidity, but will also provide water droplets for your cham to drink, clean his eyes out in, and provide moisture for plants. The humidifier can be used to raise the...
Two good things to do:
Visit the two links in my signature. The first is this forum's Care Guide. It will give you all sorts of great info on things such as lighting schedule, food, etc.
The second is the Health Form. As others have mentioned, sleeping outside of his enclosure on your hand is...
The sad thing is they are the most commonly sold species to the general public. I wonder if this sort of behavior leads to some of the neglect we see from people who take them on as pets?
This. The majority of commercial dog and cat food is actually quite a poor diet for both of these animals. Probably even more so for cats, as they are "obligate carnivores" and really should not be eating much of anything other than animal protein. Sadly most cat food has many other fillers, and...
So far my 3.5 month old veiled seems to be friendly. Of course this can all change as they grow up. But he hand feeds just fine, and can be coaxed to walk onto my hand and out of his cage. Once out he likes to climb on me, and of course makes a bee-line for the highest point - my head.
Yep - I agree with the earlier posts. Sometimes we spoil these little guys and gals too much, and they learn how to take advantage of our loving care :D. So in this case, some tough love is probably in order. She will eat.
According to this site's care sheet:
"Juveniles 6-12 months of age: 10-12 medium crickets every other day.
Which makes me tend to think that 4-5 large crickets every day or sometimes every other day would be roughly equivalent to the guidance given there. However, I am admittedly not an...
Great! Thank's for looking. I can't wait to get some more free time to expand this. It's strange, but I find it kind of fun. (That must be the CPA in me haha )
Hi and welcome. Your best course of action is to first, click on the link in my signature "Help Form". Fill that guy out, and then post it over in the Health section of the forum with your concerns. You will receive a lot of great advice once you provide all of that info for everyone.
This blog post will basically be utilized for me to track Abe's (my 3 month old veiled chameleon) weight as he progresses. It could possibly be of some benefit to others, although we know that weight is highly variable during the growth stages. Anyway, here it is:
3/16/2013 - 27g

Hi everyone,
I just posted my first blog entry. It's for all of you veiled owners out there, curious on Yemen weather data. It's a work in progress, but I'd love for you to go check it out and let me know what I can improve on, and how this can be used.
Thanks...
I was inspired by another Trace's 2/9/2013 post called "Random Musings on Seasonal Cycling" posted here. There was a lot of good data and information, and I felt it was very helpful. I thought it might be helpful for those of us keeping veileds to have some information about the climate in...
If you will be gone over the weekend for a few days, nothing beats the convenience of an automated misting system. Honestly it is one of the best investments you can make for your enclosure. In comparison to the amount of money we spend on this hobby, it's actually not a huge cost. If you get...
You have to remember that those vibrant colors you see are usually the result of a cham who is somewhat flared up, either angry, scared, in a mating mood, trying to look tough, etc. Usually a relaxed, healthy cham will not be as crazily colored. They do change based on temperature as well. If he...
