Bugs and other micro fauna are great things to introduce to the chameleon enclosure ... unless, of course, you keep one of those sterile, cleaned with bleach once a week, plant in a pot, paper towel substrate enclosures. ;)
-Brad
I don't bake wash or bleach.
Just bring it home and stick it in the cage.
No problems.
I would love to hear if someone has ever had an issue with this practice that actually endangered their chameleon. I doubt it very much.

This book was published about 2 years after I got my first "American Chameleon" (1977).
In defense of the book, the author does identify the species as an anole and there is a picture of a parson's as an example of an old world chameleon.
At any rate 33 years later it was amusing to see this...
I've never used a hova bator. Why can't you get your vermiculite the right moisture before putting it in the incubating containers?
Doesn't make sense.
-Brad
Absolutely no question that they are beautiful ... truly amazing ... and this is probably the reason.
They are so popular and so many people are working with them .... even though my work started with an equally popular species (calyptratus) I am much more interested in working with less...
What is your supplementation schedule?
I wouldn't worry too much about it, but you need to make sure you're providing calcium and vitamins ... she still may shoot at the soil from time to time.
-Brad
I agree with Kevin.
That left front leg in particular does not look quite right.
Possibly some edema as well?
You need to take this animal to the vet.
-Brad
So what's your solution in this case?
The importer did not get any $$$ for these animals which will hopefully discourage him from importing again.
Shouldn't the animals be taken care of?
-Brad
Yes.

I think the light the OP is using is fine.
-Brad
You need to get a springtail culture started in the permanent enclosure.
This will take care of the gnats.
I have never cleaned a pygmy enclosure and I have never separated anyone out of a group.
