Hello everyone, this thread may not be in the right place but my female bearded pygmy was separated once again into their old 12x12x12 terrarium because she is due to lay a retained clutch and you can clearly tell shes getting ready. She is getting fat again and is rejecting the males mating abilities I also had to do major cleaning in the 10 gallon due to the stupid gnats. So at the end the male got the 10 gallon with paper towel as substrate because of this gnat problem and the female of course got 4 inches of organic soil to lay in. I am thinking of keeping the retained clutch in there after she lays and they both go in the 10 gallon. ANYWAYS today the male got depressed. He cant find his lady. Once again he went to each corner of the cage and wanted out. SO i put him in the 12x12x12 with the female and he is all happy. It just goes to show, he cant live without her and true love cant be separated

You need to get a springtail culture started in the permanent enclosure.
This will take care of the gnats.
I have never cleaned a pygmy enclosure and I have never separated anyone out of a group.

The next time you are at a show, visit the dart frog people (any dart frog people will do)
They will set you up for about $5.
