Calumma parsonii (Orange Eye)

Glad they went to a good home. Its a shame the haphazard way they came here. Although, I am not jealous:p Ill stick to the smaller chams. Much easier!!

I respect you not telling anyone how you got them:D

Ryan your secret is safe with us and personally I don't care how you got them. All I know is they are in the best possible place they could be, good luck and keep is drooling. :D

Congrats to you for your great new additions. You and Kent obviously scored big time. Good things come to people with a good reputation and lots of experience :) Can't wait to hear that you guys are actually breeding. Maybe one day you guys will let me join the secret club with the purchase of your offspring ;)

If it were carpenteri, I'd be jealous too! I've seen a bunch of parsonii in person but only just a handful of PHOTOS of carpenteri.

How are these guys doing, Ryan?
 
Ok. . . . not jumping the thread. But I would really like to know whats up with all these parsoniis? I mean I got shot out on another thread started by happy14 aswell as him about the whole black market thing and supporting smuggling, and I have now seen the very people that said that to him and me with parsoni, please do explain to me

I had my vet appointment yesterday and they found all the same stuff you found.

The male is not doing "great" as you know he is showing the signs of some sort of URI or LRI. It is not really in his mouth but he weezes. He is starting a course of Baytril and Pancur.

I have a drip on them now all day and mist about a totall of an hour a day. Misting system is here so I am going to set it up tonight.

The have both eaten for me and Lisa. Not out of our hands but off the screen. I have them seperated even from being too close to eachother right now. In the basking area but it still only gets up to the high 70's up to almost 80. The male is most alert and seems to do better when he can worm up a little. He is still alert most of the day but will go to sleep pretty easy and is slow to wake up.

I do not have the luxury of waiting to treat the male if I waited too much longer it may be too late to treat. I have started him on both meds. The female has already been started on Pancur. I asked Dr. greek his recomendation on waiting and he felt it would not be a problem to start now.

I had a culture done to make sure what ever he has is not resistant to baytril and we will make adjustments if needed.

The female is in good condition. I will let everyone know the progress. The male is a bit of an uphill battle but I am happy he was able to come home with me and actually have a chance.
 
These are adoptees. I did not pay for them, although I can't speak for others who received some of these. I WOULD not pay for them. Paying for them does support the illegal trade in these. Apparently you didn't read the VERY first statement in my thread.

The importer lost thousands of dollars on this shipment by purchasing them. That did support the black market but he will most likely never do it again and no one here knew him prior. He got into something way over his head and decided he couldn't stand to see another one die so quickly. They needed good homes THAT night, and they got them.

I think it is fair that you ask that. These animals were not brought in by us or for us. We have taken them on because of some unfortuante events that have led to us aquiring them IMO in the best interest of the animals. With out them finding their way to the homes they are in now they did not have much of a chance at survival. I never intended on keeping Parsonii but will sure as hell try my best to make sure ones that are here are sucesfull. The importer was not sucessful and will probably not try this again. He lost and unfortuitly the parsonii almost did too.

What would you have done in that situation?
