Thanks everyone, much appreciated!
Laurie - The first clutch from another female (captive breeding, so I guess larger than normal) was 16 eggs. This clutch was just eight eggs, and they didn't look as good as the other clutch, understandably. However, she was digging after laying that first...
I've become quite fond of Calumma brevicornis over the past few months, for a litany of reasons, and have decided I'm going to continue to attempt to breed this species. I now have 3.4 at our facility.
I received eggs from a captive breeding about a month ago, but today I received more eggs...
I appreciate the kind words everyone. :)
I've received virtually zero incubation information from Parson's breeders despite my communication attempts, which wasn't surprising (albeit sad) so I'm on my own here. I'm experimenting with three different incubation methods, so I'll keep you all...
You may recall a pair of beautiful freshly-imported Yellow-lips I received about two months ago--I posted pictures of them, wondering if the female was gravid. I sold the male quickly, and long story short, the sale of the female never materialized.
She really looked gravid to me, so after a...
I found an interesting photograph (below) at this website. The description of the three photographs says, "Calumma brevicorne with attributes of Calumma crypticum, in the primary forest of Vatoharanana."
Does anyone know if perhaps brevicorne and crypticum cross-breed in nature?
Hi Chris,
I was hoping you'd see my post and comment. I will try to get a picture of the two next to each other to see what you think. I actually might just take pictures of all my females (received two more today), just to see if you have any thoughts.
Thanks,
Sam
I have ten juvenile Meller's that came in, most in great condition. It's nice getting smaller ones for a change...
Here's a Fischer's that had really long horns...
I had a few more C. brevicornis arrive recently, and I was looking at two of the females side-by-side today, and thought, "They sure don't look alike." Then it clicked--I believe it's another C. crypticum female. I could be wrong, but I do think it's crypticum.
The other crypticum female I...
Thanks for asking! Down to three, but they seem to be doing well now and my fingers are crossed. They are putting on weight/size--I am keeping each of them in their own setup--not sure if that's helping.
Here's a picture of one of them--they are all the same size.
Hi Jeremy,
Actually, in "Chameleons" by Ferguson, Kalisch, and McKeown, the author tried diapausing the eggs for two Parson's clutches, and received just two hatchlings from each clutch. The author goes on to say, "Another unrelated clutch from the second pair of C.p.parsonii was incubated at...
