Nice Habitat
Great job Frank.
I wish I had the time to copy some of your ideas. I agree it does look like a piece of furniture. Why not put it in the bedroom. Oh, wait are you married like me? That will never fly. LOL

like the fountain of water
I like the fountain of water. I can see from the video how it really works to attract them to drinking lots of water. However, I do not like the recycle of water and the bacteria it builds up in the bowl of the fountain. If you change the water daily, maybe every...
Chance's Habitat
I basically copied Supergirls idea of putting a Repti-breeze in a bakers rack. Then a Tupperware tub for drainage. The Monsoon is on the bottom shelf and it works great. I never have to water my plants. Chance Leon gets to drink plenty of water from the leaves. I did wrap...
Very good point - you don't want to keep pressure treated wood in the house. I had assumed it was for outside, but I shouldn't have. I used oak for my enclosure where visible and pine for anything that was not exposed. I stained everything, and it has held up very well over 2 years of heavy...
needs another latch
Wow Lathis your a natural born carpenter. All that by hand, your hired.
I have one suggestion. Add another latch near the bottom. I think with time the wood may tweak enough that a strong cham could escape or get caught in the gap. Maybe also some backup latches if you...
too cold at 45 for panther
I totally agree with all the warnings werecat just mentioned. Especially the fluctuation thing. Also, I know the Sac area. It gets colder than 45 degrees at night sometimes and can be prone to frosts during winter. Don't do it. Wait till spring.
If you were in a...
Presure treated wood
I hope the stand is for outside. Pressure treated wood is for contact with concrete or masonry surfaces so it will not rot and the termites wont cross it.
I was a carpenter for 25 years and the smell of that pressure treatment used to almost make me sick. Don't handle the...
Not eating silkworms
I am feeling the waste of money on the silkworm experiment as well. I got the small pod from Coastal Silkworms about two weeks ago. As far as I can tell he did not eat one. I see one cocoon in his habitat and half the worms in the Pod have died. I dump the worm Pod feces...
Same size as my panther
Looks good, same size as mine who is about 2 years old.
I hardly ever get to see his great colors. He only does them when he is upset and I don't let that happen.
Any ideas on how to get the color show without upsetting him?
cold behavior
I have noted the same behavior when it gets down to 60 degrees.
His appetite goes way down and he hangs out in the lowest vines in the habitat. I have added a 60 watt heater to help compensate.
I still have to encourage him sometimes to go up to the basking spot that is...
same problem
At first I fed him nothing but crickets and meal worms. Then I brought in super worms. He did eat about 6 -8 crickets and a couple super worms for many months until this last few months.
I have been trying to get my cham off super worms for months because now that is all he will...
Vines from Michaels
I have been using an artificial vine that looks like Ivy for about seven months now. The price was good as I remember I had a discount. I did wash it well before I used it. A bit of a pain as it had so many leaves and branches.
The only problem with it is my Cham is...
No chain needed
Mine sits on my shoulder without a chain. I cannot imagine how he would react to such an insult.
I had one of those Anole American Chams as a kid and fed it meal worms. Never did like the string when I got it and took it off as soon as I got home.
looks healthy to me
Your Panther looks very healthy to me. Same type as mine I think as far as I can tell. Keep plying him with food and he should come around. I usually just put a finger under his chin and he walks onto my hand. If he is moving slow because he is cold in the lower branches of...
I have the same problem since winter started back in early November.
From the advise I got here from one of the senior members I cut down on the D3 and got a heater to bring up the temperature in the habitat. That helped some but Chance Leon still won't eat crickets anymore. The only thing he...
Thanks to the moderators here for my Birthday Wishes.
Chance Leon is doing very well. I put a 60 watt heater on his habitat a month ago and he has perked up from the cold winter blues well. He is eating a bit more now and is more active.
Thanks, Greg
Just started cooling off here
I am facing same issue. It just started cooling off here in Southern CA. We had rain last night. Been way too long since that happened.
Anyway room temps are down and basking area no longer gets up to 90 degrees. It barely hits 83 now. Floor of Repti breeze is...
beetle in cricket cage
I have found the same beetles. The pet store owner said they are from the food given to the crickets. I thought he said it was a potato bug. Not the kind I remember being 20 times larger and living in soil.
Anyway they are harmless to the crickets according to the pet...
thanks for the info
I will try to reduce the D3.
I don't get more than a 1/2 hour of direct sunlight on him more than a couple days a week when I am able to take him outside. He does have a reptisun10.0 UVB lamp with reflector from outside the screen about 4" from as close as he can get to...
