I cant get any pics right now, but i propped the basking light up a couple of inches and he decided to move op to get closer to the light. Do chameleons just try to get as warm as hey can even if its too hot? He is about 3.5-4 months old.
I got my new panther yesterday! While my cham is basking under his heat lamp he holds his mouth open every once in a while. Is that normal? He is very active and has a ferocious appetite and seems to be extremely healthy.
I will be cup feeding. I think the spiders etc. is just a chance freeranging takes. There is an incredibly small chance of that happening though.
I just got my cham. today! unfortunately he is to small to live in this cage for a couple of months. I am just excited that my panther has finally arrived!
I am pretty much a noob too. Thanks for your compliments? I feel much better about my design now that I have had so many positive remarks. If anyone sees any flaw, please let me hear your opinion.
That netting sounds good. would the chameleon be able to climb it? My dad is a civil engineer which helps a lot. He builds everything to be "bomb proof". he he.
I am going to cup feed. Thank you for your compliments! I wasn't sure if people were going to like it, or tear me apart for doing something different. What surprised me the most was how relatively "inexpensive" it was (about 100$). It cost the same amount to build a 3.5x3.5x9 cage as a store...
I have been looking at Sambavas some and although Iam not anywhere close to being an expert, that doesn't look like one to me. I always thought that a true Sambava would look like the chameleons fromhttp://www.screameleons.com.
I have been measuring the humidity all day. I am going to put a panther in there, so the humidity only needs to be between 40%-80% including misting. I have enough plants that the humidity varies between 45%-60% without misting. The only problem Iam having right now is the temp. The top half is...
The platform was already existing. I am planning on building a cham proof wall around the perimeter of the platform the cage is on (so the chameleon doesn't fall down the stairs). The cage ended up a giant (3.5x3.5x9).
These are some pics of my ''free range'' style cage. The frame is pretty much built for easy cleaning and to hold the lights. Its not finished and i will make some modifications in the next couple of weeks while my cham is still in its juvenile cage. I wanted to see what you guys thought before...
After going through some elaborate home built cage designs I have come to the conclusion that I will free range my chameleon. In free ranging is there anything different I need to be aware of. He is going to be held in a 3.5' x 4' chameleon ''box'' with a wall that is 1' tall. He will have...
