    They finally arrived!

Always something to watch in Cham cages or feeder boxes. Takes me back to HS Biology. 1965. Showing grandson metamorphasis live and up close! The bugs are as fun as the Chams!:D

    They finally arrived!

Wife just pointed out plauge of "gnats" getting into her wine glass. Had to tell her they were newly hatched cricks. (LOL) Never knew they flew and were so tiny. Fly right through tiny holes in tub top. Guess I will moved newly hatched cricks down to shop area.;);)

    They finally arrived!

After several months of preparation, I finally was ready to take on my two males, one a Veiled I named John-Paul and the other a Jackson I named Andrew. Andrew is about 5-6 months and ate and drank right away. John-Paul, 3-4 months is a little more bashful, hides in his Hibiscus. Both got...

    Jackson Temp

Thank you very much! I will turn off basking light before Andrew arrives. That will be much easier and cheaper than cooling his space.

    Jackson Temp

If ambient heat is an issue, can I eliminate basking light for Jackson to keep temp down? Does he have to have basking light if he has 5 UVB and ambient temp in 80s? Plenty of 'cool light' from plant lights and window. Without basking light, rest of gradient is near his ideal.

    New Troops on the Way

I realize the Jackson will want it cooler. Area is in large Sunroom I typically do not air condition it. May have to find a way to cool it. Blog said they will often spend less time under basking light and require more hydration. I will make that happen first, then figure out cooling their...

    New Troops on the Way

:D Well, Tuesday is the day!. I ordered a male Jackson and a male Veiled over a month ago. FLChams. I then ordered two 2x2x4 screen cages, cleaned up sheffelleras, pothos and a hibiscus for the veiled. Placed lattice for Pathos and vines and ropes in cages. I got a 36 inch 5 UVB light with...

Reminder about UVB light, heat, and D3

Petsmart has a combination UVB light and incandescent. The 48 inch has a place for 1 tube and four incandescents. The 36 and 30 inch allow one tube and three incandescents. These combos are available on-line only. NOT in stores. They also take up less space and weight on the top of cages.

    Best way to hang pothos?

Try putting piece of vinyl lattice along side and tie Pothos to with pot on floor. They will grow up as well as hang.

    UVB Lighting

I am hanging a 4 foot T12 single bulb 6500 above the cages as a plant light so each cham will have it plus one 40-60 watt incand and their half of the 36 inch UVB 5 reptisun. Question is whether 5 is enough.

    UVB Lighting

I have two 2x2x4 cages located next to each other. (thin vinyl divider between them) I have ordered a 36 inch incandescent and flourescent combo hood. I plan to have it straddle the two cages with basking lights and a single tube in it. What is coming is a Reptisun 5. Will this be enough...

ID my camellia plant and give me advice

It is definetly a Camelia. The yellowish leaves looks like it needs some azaelia/camelia fertilizer or some acid. Should root in sand and Rootone with mister. They should thrive in Partial shade and moist well drained conditions

    urg plants

When you pick up a pot to clean under it, if water runs out, it may not be draining like it should. The nursery pots just have a hole in the bottom. Sitting on the floor, it might hold water. Try setting it on a few rocks to help it drain or poke some holes in the side of the pot near the...
