Spike says hi! He is wondering when he's gonna get his beloved silkworms again (I haven't had them all winter - spring because they weren't surviving in the new house). I'm gonna order them soon, but other than that he's been great 😂
My Spike did some soil munching when he was younger, and I thought it was the WEIRDEST thing lol. But it didn't last. He did it a few times and then honestly he seemed to just grow out of it.
There is and there is a possibility this could effect his eyes, I believe. I would personally get some cheap rough shop light bulbs for your heating lamp. You can find them on Amazon, if your local hardware store doesn't have them.
I would also add a plant light, and I would replace the...
No problem! I do not use any heat source besides the heating lamp, and the forced air in my house, if it is winter. I personally use the following:
-heat lamp
-T5 high output light fixture + UVB bulb
-T5 high output light fixture + 6400k plant bulb. I bought mine here
You do not HAVE to have...
One thing I would HIGHLY suggest you use are these (or similar) outlet timers. These allow you to have everything plugged in (your lights, misting system, fogger if you use one, to be automatically set to turn on and off when you want. This way you're not manually doing everything every day...
IDK what heat lamp you're using but It's likely Flukers, which is fine. However, I would highly suggest you add this to your heatlamp so you have some control and can better monitor your chameleons basking area. I put the sensor right where my chameleon typically basks for heat specifically...
No problem. It's not an emergency as in "you need to do this in 1 hour" lol but .... I wouldn't wait. If you wait "weeks" that could be really bad.
I got mine from here: https://www.reptilebasics.com/t5-light-fixtures-kits/lumenize-uvb-kit-24-with-bulb/
Here is another link (and this is a...
I'm at work so bare with me, but just reading this real quick and looking at your setup there's a few things I can tell you:
IMO, your chameleon may be a bit stressed because of the move, new environment, and some things that you have set up here. But it mostly looks good aside from a few...
At first he couldn't care less how much I was bothering him with the phone while he was getting his sunlight. Once he got up and walked around spicy Spike came out 😂
Aw he looks great. Looks like he's coming into a shed too, which is also a factor! My panther tends to get real dull like this just before a shed. So, once he's done his shed he should be showing you some nice brighter colors, at least for the most part.
