    Female veiled acting strangely.

Hey everyone. I have had Sammi veiled for 5 months now. The pet store didn't tell me her age when I bought her but she would fit from the tip of my finger to the mid knuckle. Maybe she was a month or two? Anyway, she has been hanging out on the bottom of the cage for the last few days. I...

    Heat bulb exploded over enclosure!

Oh, thank goodness. Was worried about her breathing in chemicals/ingesting some from water droplets. I've just about gotten her enclosure cleaned. Thanks everyone for your help! :D

Ah, cool beans. I'll add the heat bulb to the timer then. Thanks!

    Heat bulb exploded over enclosure!

Really? That's not what I was reading :(. It can easily get to 55 at night here though. We don't run the heat, we choose to bundle up if we get cold. Maybe I need further clarification on heating then. Here's what I've been reading: "Veiled chameleons like hot basking spots. It is not...

    Heat bulb exploded over enclosure!

I'm not familiar with the term PO. Please explain. She wasn't mad that the bulb was on, she was mad at the loud noise it made when it popped

    Heat bulb exploded over enclosure!

I'm in CO and it's been snowing. We also keep our house pretty cold; too cold for Sammi (usually around 65-68). The bulb itself is about 8 inches from the nearest branch.

    Heat bulb exploded over enclosure!

The heat bulb exploded at about 3:30 this morning. I'm kind of worried that it could affect Sammi. I know there are toxic chemicals in the bulbs and was wondering what I should do. Luckly, no glass got in the enclosure because of the tight wire mesh. She was very unhappy when it happened...

Live plant system idea. Would this work?

I'd like to have live plants in the enclosure for my chameleon but since a substrate isn't wanted, it's kind of hard to grow a plant without soil :p Anyways here's my idea (apologies in advance for the extremely crude drawing) Explanation: I was thinking about getting a planter and...

New Chameleon owner - Few questions that I cannot find concise answers too.

Thanks everyone for your replies :D A further question about breeding/egg laying. Is it stressful for females to not mate when in season? Do they need to breed to remain healthy and happy or can they just lay unfertilized eggs when the time comes? I read many bamboo plants are toxic as...

New Chameleon owner - Few questions that I cannot find concise answers too.

Hey All! I finally got my first chameleon; I've loved, wanted and researched them since the 4th grade (Don't care to figure out how many years ago that was but I'll be 23 this month). Her name's Sammi and is a veiled; about2 inches long (not including the tail) Anyways, there are a few...
