Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male ambanja panther purchased from pet store (he was a
gift, otherwise I would have selected a reputable breeder);
in my care for approx. 7-8 months, probably a yr old
Handling - As little as possible...
I don't know if this is the case with EvilLost's cham, but mine's turret is staying swollen and shut.
On the bright side, he has started eating again yay! Now, however, the eye seems to be shedding? It is time for him to have another shed, but that seems to be the only place....
Here are...
I appreciate all your replies, they are very helpful in narrowing down the source of this problem! As far as the "how to ask form" I've filled it out several times and its in my older posts, I just forgot to add it to the last one. I'm going to try to get pics up asap, but Mr. M DESPISES the...
So I've posted about three threads regarding Mr. Mystopholees' eye trouble and am yet to resolve the problem. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I took him to a vet who prescribed a regimine of oral antibiotics, topical ointment, and sodium chloride rinses which I administered religiously and...
thanks for asking! ironically, his eye seems to be a little better but now he's acting strange....not eating and being very inactive:( i don't know what to do...maybe i'm just over-analyzing?
how's yours doing?
That's what confuses me too-- other than the eye, Mr. Mystopholees seems perfectly fine. He eats well, poops regularly, is very active, and displays beautiful colors.
This may or may not be significant, but my vet said that he really couldn't even find any debris or infection in the eye...
That's exactly what mine's doing and I've actually considered the UVB light as a possible source of the irritation...I'm using a ReptiSun 5.0 spiral bulb (in addition to his basking lamp) and I've heard such mixed opinions about them. My vet, who I trust a great deal, seemed to dismiss the idea...
So I posted a week or so ago about Mr. Mystopholees' swollen eye and have since taken him to a vet, who anesthetized him, rinsed the eye, and placed him on the following medicines:
-Neo/PolyMyx B Sulf/Bac ointment, applied to the area 2-3x per day for 14 days
-Metacam oral, 1x per day...
Thanks everyone! Now I may need some more advice....
Thanks for all the advice...I tried the saline and it worked well but I still ended up taking him to the local exotic vet--and I completely retract my earlier comment regarding their competency! He's actually the best vet I've seen and even...
Hey everyone,
Yesterday I noticed Mr. Mystopholees' left eye appeared swollen and now today it is completely shut. I just recently started free-ranging him and I suspect that he has gotten dust in his eyes from the air conditioning unit. I've tried to contact my local exotic vet practice, but...
Hey thanks for the responses! I think you guys are definitely right....I guess I should have noticed he only does it when I'm handling him haha. It's just such a cute little noise, its hard to imagine he thinks he's being tough:)
I may be a little paranoid about the health of my relatively new Ambanja chameleon, but I've noticed him making a strange noise. It's a very soft, cute yet disconcerting sniffle. Otherwise, he appears to be in good health--great color, molts regularly, eats and drinks like a pig, etc. Should...
I think I have an ideal room to free range Mr. Mystopholees, my 6 month old male Ambanja, but I was hoping for some help. The room is a small office so its generally very quiet and peaceful, its the warmest room in the house with its own air conditioning unit (which makes it ideal for temp...
